Dr. Silverman
I have been reading online and see mixed reviews. Anyone have any experience either way to offer. Or another developmental pediatrician recommendation.

There have been a lot of posts on Silverman if you search the special needs board. We've seen her. She didn't really say or do anything for us. I think we saw her twice too. It was 10 minutes in and out.... Your son has a language delay, come back in 6 months. 6 months later, your son has a language delay, see you in a few months...
We didn't get anything out of it, except a long wait.
I found that the best evaluations were done by the therapists and the psychologists. JMHO.
We did see Dr. Jennifer Cross in the city, at Cornell. She was with us for 2 hours, and honestly I felt like she was a good doctor. She doesn't take insurance though. I think it's around $500 too see her.

Thanks for the info. I have heard some of those things too, but the school district requires DS see either a neurologist or developmental pediatrician before he enters kindergarten. Anyone have any recommendations of Dr.s on LI ?

We are seeing silverman on the 11th. We have been waiting for 3 months. Although we no longer need to go, I am going to do it anyway. I know a friend who sees her & says although she is not the best...there are not many choices. This seems to be true as I have googled & can't find any on LI. We just went to a Neuro at winthrop- Dr Kharode. If you want to make appt...do it asap its about a 3 month waiting list.

If that's all you need, and it's not any real "answers" you're looking for, I think she's fine. Just tell her what you want to hear and she'll write it down for you. Lol.
My DS is getting checked for ADHD/ADD soon. We are going to Dr. Altelaru 516-937-3511. She's a neuro.

We use Dr. Rosenn in Plainview. He's a neurologist.

My DS was diagnosed with PDD-NOS by a psychologist, and needs to be seen by a medical dr. To enter Kindergarten. I will call all the drs everyone recommended and see who takes my insurance and when I can get an appt. I know it is about a 3 month waiting list
