Clomid with Metformin
I had a long talk with my RE about next steps and no finances. She said we can try clomid (since I did respond to that) and Metformin but this combination has a lot of side effects. Anyone used this method before? Did it work? Any advice?

Clomid with Metformin
metformin is very common for PCOS. i take it now just to regulate my cycle and we aren't TTC. it has definitely helped. it does take about 3 months of taking it for it to be fully effective, however you will still see some benefits when you start taking it. its not a fertility drug, its a drug that regulates your insulin levels/absorption which are commonly interfered with if you have PCOS.
for me the side effects were minimal, but usually they are stomach issues and they occur within the first month or two of taking it until your body adapts to it. if you work up to your dose (ie start small, then double, then double again) it is a little easier. also make sure to get the 24hr release pills as they are also easier on the tummy.
clomid didnt do anything for me so i have no advice there. good luck!

Clomid with Metformin
I took clomid before and on 150mg it did nothing but on 250mg I had one very nice looking mature follicle. So I know follie growth is possible! With clomid I did have hot flashes, nausous, and headaches. They way I see it they are all side effects I will have when I get to be blessed with being pregnant so might as well get used to it now. I just hope this works cause we can't afford the next steps and don't want to be in debt before we even have a baby. My insurance doesn't cover anything :(

Re: Clomid with Metformin
I did Metformin and Clomid with a trigger and b2b IUI's and we conceived our DS on our 1st try. I did not have any major side effects. I actually don't recall having any side effects from the Metformin but definitely some from the Clomid. I will be using the same protocol again next month when we start TTC.

That is very encouraging to hear! Are you diabetic or have any insulin problems? I do not so I am wondering how well it will work for me.

Clomid with Metformin
I used Metformin (for 2 months before I started Clomid) and then Clomid. I got pregnant on my 3rd month of Clomid (250mg) and am expecting a baby boy next month! My insurance covered unlimited IUIs and that was going to be my next step, but Clomid worked for me. Hopefully you are as lucky!!!

Re: Clomid with Metformin
I used the Clomid with Metformin even though I do not have any insulin issues. I saw an endocrinologist long before TTC and had a long glucose test, I remember being there for hours, and showed no evidence on insulin resistance or of being pre-diabetic.
