insurance question....in network vs. out of network?
Hi all...I'm getting so confused with all this (again). We have a lifetime max of $10k. Does if get used faster if we use an out-of-network dr as opposed to an in-network? How does that work? I thought I remembered reading (or hearing) that out of network will use up the lifetime max quicker. If anyone can shed some light - I'd be so grateful Thanks

Yes, an OON provider will charge more than an in-network dr since the in-network are required to charge pre-negotiated rates. Plus, when you're in-network you'll likely pay co-pays most of the time, rather than the full amount of the visit.
With fertility treatments, there are often lots of additional costs, so it's much better to stay in-network if you have coverage.
