Progesterone Supplementation
So I had my IUI on Sunday. They gave me a script at that time for progesterone suppositories as a just in case you need it, take it because it can't hurt kind of measure.
As you can imagine, it was not a good time to try and get one's hands on fertility meds. The local pharmacy just reopened yesterday, and I dropped off the script. They don't keep it in stock, so they're hoping it arrives today or tomorrow.
I was supposed to start it Tuesday. I only have a handful of suppositories here that expired last month. I haven't been too crazy about it because progesterone is the least of my worries as far as trying to get preggers. WWYD?

Re: Progesterone Supplementation
If you had a few follies, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I always had 3-4 follies and progesterone was good bc of it. But if you were worried I may use the expired ones for a few days as long as they've been properly stored. Can you get a progesterone check for peace of mind?

Re: Progesterone Supplementation
I would use the expired ones until I got the new ones. The expired ones are probably still good. The only thing is that they may not be as potent but since it will only be for a couple of days, I would not worry.

Re: Progesterone Supplementation
I'm thinking I'll check in with the pharmacy later, and if they still don't have it, I'll use an old tablet tonight? I had 3 follies, so I'm not too worried. The progesterone doesn't really become an issue until the end of my short LP anyway.

Re: Progesterone Supplementation
Why don't you just ask your RE to run a quick blood test to check your progesterone levels? If it's high enough, then you don't even need to take any supplements.

I think you can still take the expired ones. They are not bad, maybe just not as potent.

Re: Progesterone Supplementation
I've never taken progesterone supplements for two reasons: One) It can be very dangerous during a pregnancy for progesterone to stop suddenly. Remembering to take a med every single day (sometimes 3 times a day) NO MATTER WHAT just is not my strong point. For me, taking them seemed like it might do more harm than good because I just did not trust myself to be compliant or all 13 weeks. Two) I've never had a problem with a pregnancy "sticking" before.
Whatever you decide to do, if you decide to start, make sure you keep going.
