Milk at Bedtime
Does anyone not give a bottle/cup of milk to their DC at bedtime?? I transitioned my 13 month old to whole milk a month ago, and I've been giving her a sippy cup of milk at night...ever since then, she wakes up sreaming thru the night like she's really uncomfortable...seems like gas pains and I'm wondering if the milk isn't agreeing with her little tummy.
I'm curious if anyone skips the bedtime milk...or skips giving milk altogether for that matter?
TIA!

Re: Milk at Bedtime
I don't. As soon as she hit a year she ate/drank like an adult in terms of meal/drink timing. She may have a snack after dinner (if it was an early dinner) that might include a cup of milk, but I don't do a bedtime cup/bottle. Her diapers are so messy in the morning, i can't imagine what 8oz more of milk would do before bedtime.
I think people often mistake whole milk as an extension of breastmilk or formula past 1yr when really it just becomes part of the dairy food group and meals throughout the day should be balanced for dc including the recommended servings of milk/cheese/yogurt from the dairy group.

i don't. my pediatrician is against it as it can have a bad effect on their teeth. The acid in the milk (or maybe the base) leads to enamel erosion i think. I'm not a fan of milk anyway so don't quite remember.

Milk at Bedtime
When I was transitioning DS to milk I moved his last bottle up to about an hour or so before bed. When he started 100% milk I kept it this way (so its after dinner by about a half hour)

Milk at Bedtime
I give DS 4 oz. milk about 30 min. before bedtime, but I brush his teeth after. He is 18 months. I water it down with 4 oz. of water, and that is the only milk he gets all day. Watering it down seems gross, but he drinks it and he gets less sugar that way.
