She does sleep through the night and always has-- so she must be putting herself BACk to sleep but she cant fall asleep on her own. I havent tried CIO yet-- and shes really bad now at 9 months with her separation anxiety so I am afrad to try it no,w

I'd love to know this answer! I've made it worse by always nursing, rocking and now letting DS sleep with me.

I did the rocking-for-hours thing with my son for 9 long months and turned to CIO after I couldn't take it anymore. It was the best thing I ever did! It took about 3 days of crying (1st day was about 45 min., 2nd about 30 min., 3rd about 15 min.) and by the 4th day it was minimal crying and right to sleep. It was really hard to just sit there watching the monitor and let him cry, but I knew he needed to learn to put himself to sleep for his own good. He's 4 now and other than when he is sick, still sleeps through the night without calling us 98% of the time.
