Unhappy with Long Island IVF

Hi...I'm new to this site. I was hoping I could get some advise on infertility docs and facilities. I just started seeing Dr. Kenigsberg at Long Island IVF. He seems great. However, it's the facility I have a problem with. They assign you a nurse that you have call and go through for everything. The one I got assigned to has so far sent me for the wrong tests, failed to do certain needed blood work, and never returns my calls. I've had all my prelim tests done and have no idea where I go from here. I feel very uncomfortable, as if I'm bothering this nurse when I do call for information. Has anyone else had a similar experience??? I've been thinking about switching to North Shore LIJ center, Dr. Scholl, but I'm not sure if all of these facilities are the same in the way they operate. I feel like I'm at a baby making mill, rather than a physician's office. Any advise or information would be greatly appreciated, as I'm going at this alone and am very nervous. Thanks.

Re: Unhappy with Long Island IVF

you need to feel comfortable with the practice that is handling your future basically.. with that said, i left RSofNY and went to LI IVF for that same reason.

i am also a patient of Dr. K however, i have only seen him one time!! my nurse/PA that is handling my case (stony brook office) is Sharon. She is a dream, if it wasnt for her i probably would have left this office too. i have gone to the melville location for all of my procedures and weekend appointments and it is a verrry busy office. i like knowing that i have all my monitoring at a smaller location with my PA who reallly keeps a close eye on me. i really adore her and plan on getting her (not the actual doctor) a nice gift when we graduate.

you have to do what is right for you and go where you feel comfortable.

Sorry you are going through this. I used Dr Scholl with no luck. I had a fresh cycle and 3 FET and no baby. I would not recommend(FM me if you want more info). I am currently using Dr Trivax @RSof NY in Mineola they also have an office in Stony Brook and West Islip. They are great.

I am currently at RSof NY in Mineola as well and you do end up speaking to alot of the nurses throughout the cycle and the different doctors in the practice, who are all very nice. I sometimes wish I had more interaction with my dr but I've found that when I have really have a question or something bothering me if I leave a message with the front desk my dr gets back to me a few hours later to talk with me which I really appreciate.

I am a LIIVF success story and have nothing but wonderful things to say about their Drs and staff.
I was also unhappy with my nurse (Melville office) and spoke to my Dr about it who then switched me to the nurse of my choice (Jackie). She was wonderful and always there when I needed her.
I think you need to feel comfortable with your facility so I would suggest switching nurses before switching to a whole new practice.
Good luck..FM me with any ques.

I've also only seen Dr. K one time, which I could actually deal with if I had a decent nurse/PA. I don't mind having to deal with a nurse for the day to day things. But, I do mind when that nurse doesn't return phone calls, doesn't take initiative by reviewing my chart or sends me for the wrong tests.
Dr. K comes highly recommended and so far, he's been right on target with all the testing he's sent me for. I would like to stay with him, but I'm just so unhappy with the nurse/PA, Jill (lake success office). I really don't want to be driven to another doctor because of the nurse, but I also don't want to deal with this woman throughout this long, important and emotional process, and have to second guess everything she does, provided I can even get her on the phone.
Thanks for letting me know that you've had a good experience with another nurse. Maybe I'll call a supervisor and see if I can get another nurse/PA assigned to my case. I just wish I didn't have such a bad taste in my mouth at the very beginning.

I also see Sharon at the Stony Brook office for LI IVF and she is beyond amazing. Since the merge of LI IVF and East Coast Fertility I have seen a lot of new faces at Melville and Stony Brook and my experience with the new comers has been less than satisfactory. Sharon, is at the Melville office a few days a week also, so I would see if you could switch to her. Good Luck!

I did not like LIIVF, but it was the doc I had a problem with.

However, I agree that Jackie and Sharon are wonderful (caring and detail-oriented) so maybe just request a switch.

Thank you so much! That's exactly what I was thinking about doing. I'd hate to be driven out of a practice because I didn't like the nurse...I'm there because of the doctor's reputation, success and expertise. I've just been feeling so in the dark since the beginning because of this nurse. I put a call into the nurse/PA supervisor, Gale (Melville office), regarding my feelings. What office is Jackie located in?? I feel so much better knowing that switching is an option and not a problem. Thanks!

Thank you so much! That's exactly what I'm going to do. I'm currently assigned to Jill in the Lake Success office. I'm not sure if she is one of the newcomers. But, I can easily switch to the Huntington office as well. I appreciate all the help and recommendations.

I'm going to do that first thing Monday morning!! I'm extremely detailed oriented, so maybe Sharon or Jackie would be a better fit for me. The nurse I'm assigned to now just seems like she can't be bothered, and obviously does not pay close attention since I was sent for the wrong test and certain required blood work wasn't done. I can't thank everyone enough for their input.

If you don't mind me asking, what doc did you not like and why?

I am currently with LIIVF Dr Brenner is my doc. I saw him today for the second time since our consult! I was also unhappy with my assigned nurse but by coincidence only she was out one time and I started speaking mostly with Jackie. She's not officially my assinged nurse but I deal mostly with her and I cannot speak highly enough about her. I really think its a lot about who you get rather than the office as a whole. Try switching nurses and if you're still not happy then def move on. Good luck!!

I am also currently upset with Long IVf . However I am unhappy with Dr. K. I have been going there for about 9 mo. With unknown infertility. Each time I have to meet with the doctor I feel like he doesnt know who I am and didn't even take the time to review my chart before seeing me. I haven't begun th IVF process yet so I haven't had too much time spent with the nurses. The small amount of interaction i have had was fine. I am going to be switching practices completely because I feel the same as the ladies above. You need to be comfortable with who is directing your future. Good luck with everything

Unhappy with Long Island IVF

I was lucky enough to have success with LI IVF so I really can't be too critical about them. However, I started with them literally while they were in the process of merging with east coast fertility and I could tell the difference. I went from feeling like a patients, to a cow being herded. The practice is huge and much less personal and I did receive the wrong information once about my meds. I too did not care for my nurse, so i just always called when she wasn't around and the other nurses were great. Overall I would say if the nurse is the problem, see if you can switch before you ditch the whole operation. If you are unhappy at every turn that is a different story. If I had to grade me experience I would say A - (A for the success I had and care of the people I chose to speak to, the - for becoming a ginormous practice and all of the disorganization that came with it)

I did not have a good experience with Li IVF. I was mostly unhappy with the doctor I saw there. But I did experience the same as you with the nurse. Not much interaction, especially compared to other facilites. Have not had this problem elsewhere.

Personally I feel that I'd much rather go to a place where I see a doctor each and every single time I go. I am not into PA's and nurses....I am paying to see a doctor, not just have them review my chart. It's my opinion only, but please take something like this into consideration if you're shopping around or unhappy.
I went to NSLIJ and while I liked some doctors better than others, they were all doctors who all did good by me.

Re: Unhappy with Long Island IVF

definitely talk to your doctor about switching if you are unhappy with your nurse. When we move on to IVF, I'll be asking if I can request Jackie...i'm in the melville office.

I agree, I do feel like they are a bit of a factory...but I dont mind. I like mostly everyone and their hours are convenient for me.

I'm sorry to hear you are having a bad experience.

I started seeing Dr Lydic at RSofNY in StnyBrk a few months ago. LOVE him and LOVE the staff!!! Everyone from reception, nurses, sono techs and the Dr are amazing! I have never waited more than 10-15mins after I sign in to be called in, and I am usually in and out of there in a timely fashion. I see the same Dr every time I go, and he takes his time with me. Very caring, compassionate, gentle, patient...etc. Once I got a call from the nurse about bloodwork results, but she took time to explain everything to me and answer all of my questions. Besides that one time, the Dr calls me with the results. Nothing but positive things to say about him and the practice! I never feel like a number and I never feel like it is an assembly line. Him and his partner Dr Bronson are sort of separate from the other doctors in the practice from what I understand.

Good Luck!!!!

LOVED LOVED LOVED Sharon! If not for her and the great support staff there (before the merge), I probably would have left.

What days is she in Stony Brook? I am a former patient and would love to pop in and say hello to her. I sincerely miss her!

Re: Unhappy with Long Island IVF

I was a LI IVF patient (Melville), but was there before the merge, so i can't comment on the changes. I wasn't assigned a nurse/PA, but most of my dealings were with Gail (PA, and awesome!) and nurses Jackie & Mary Ann who were wonderful too.

Thank you everyone for your input...I really appreciate it. I actually contact the clinic director, Gale, and told her how upset I was. She switched my file from the Lake Success office to the Melville office and assigned me to nurse/PA,Jackie. They both have been awesome so far. In the last 2 days, I've gotten more info than I have since I've been there. So, I'm going to continue there. I'm sure I will be posting on here again because I'm going to be starting IVF soon, and will need plenty of advise! Thanks for the help!!
