Taxes
So we're in contract on a house in Commack. Apparently the house already has many tax exemptions (veterans, star etc). So now when we close and take over, I know that the taxes won't change right away and was advised by the assessors office that I should pay what the real taxes are because at the end of the year I'm going to owe in escrow or whatever. But what about the Star Program does that carry over and I just apply myself or would I even owe that as I'm waiting for my star exemption to go through?
Thanks!

You won't get a charge back for the STAR program as long as you reapply for the STAR exemption in your own name. However, if the current homeowner has an enhanced STAR (senior STAR), you might get a charge back for the difference.
