I am freaking out right now!!!
My computer which held.every single picture I've taken of my.ds the past 10 months just crashed out of nowhere and even though I always thought to do it I never backed.them.up! The guy said its the hard drive which means theres a very small chance they can recover anything. I was so upset all day!!! I had soooo many pictures and although i can get themt from family and friends they won't be the same. Pregnancy...hospital....monthly pics of ds. I am so mad at.myself! Has this ever happened to anyone where they were able to get everything recovered for you? Please tell me yes!!  I dropped it off today but he said they probably won't call me for 4-6 days. I.can't wait that long!!

yes 
for my husband & my friend!
DH has a PC & he called some help line & they were able to restore everything.
My friend had a MAC & she had to bring it in & it was a whole big thing but they did restore her hard drive.
Hope it works for you!

My hubby is in IT. He said you have a 50/50 shot. As long as your hard drive isn't bad, you should be able to get all your pics back.
*I just read you said the computer guy said it was your hard drive! Where are you bringing it to be fixed?
I never had this happen (we back everything up like crazy people), but once I wash the sim card for my camera in a pocket of jeans. When I realized up I ran to the laundry room crying like a lunatic. It was fine! Who knew those things could get wet?

First I tried gateway tech support but got nowhere with 3 people telling me 3 different things $100 later.... Ended up taking it to bestbuy. Hope they work some magic for me!!!

I am freaking out right now!!!
Happened to me and I lost a year and a half of pictures if my twins. I was and still am so upset over this. My brother is computer tech and sent my hard drive to the Data recovery place that his company uses and mine was just beyond repair. It's a free diagnostic and if they can't fix it they tell you. We now use crash plan to backup everything!

My laptop died last year. It was fine one night when i shut it down and the next morning wouldn't turn on at all. Took it to Best Buy they said it was the hard drive so I bought a new hard drive. Installed it and it still didn't work. Turned out the motherboard fried. I had to buy a new laptop but was able to recover ALL my data off the drive.

Good to hear that!! Did best buy do the data recovery for you? If you got a new hard drive how did you get the data off the old one? I am so nervous that they will not be able to get it and delete my hard.drive and I'm out of luck!!

Omg...so you know how I feel!! My dh keeps saying.don't freak out until I know for sure but that is so hard to do!

As a future idea....I put pics on shutterfly (the best ones) & order hard copies so I always have some in my hand god forbid anything happened. I did monthly with Dd (3 now) but so far with DS (5months) just uploaded so far & will order soon.

I am freaking out right now!!!
This happened to my MAC over the summer. I LOST EVERYTHING!! I did have pictures on shutterfly..but I lost all of my video since DD was born. I was devastated. I am still sick over it. LESSON LEARNED!!!
We had a problem with our hard drive so thats why they couldnt recover anything. So sad.

I know exactly how you feel. I cried about it again the other day because I wanted a certain pic of our twins and remembered I no longer had it  I would send it out to a data recovery place If best buy can't fix it.
