Anyone else's LO have problems w/rice cereal?
DD is just over 4 months and the doctor said we could start rice cereal. We have been giving it to her twice a day for about 2 weeks and it seems to be upsetting her stomach. Many times I can tell she is uncomfortable and writhes in pain. Poor thing, I hate seeing her like this so I am thinking about stopping the cereal all together for right now. She is a BF baby and lately when I nurse her, about 3 minutes in she starts squirming and then doesn't want to nurse anymore. I know it's her stomach although she is not really gassier than normal. Anyone else have these issue? Advice?

We went right to oatmeal. It's gentler and not Binding

I dont have advice but why did your Dr suggest cereal at 4mths when youre BF? If I were you I'd stop the cereal

Ped suggested it b/c she was STTN until recently and then started waking every 3 or 4 hours so he said she must be hungry and the cereal would help a little. I think I am going to stop the cereal for another month or so and then try again once her stomach is a little more developed.

Ah, ok, that makes sense then. I would then go with oatmeal as PP's said or just stop it all together

Talked to the Ped about it, he said to switch to oatmeal since rice can be very binding for some babies. I will try that for a little and see how that goes. If she doesn't do well I will just stop all together for a bit. Thanks for the advice everyone
