Second Opinions..?
Hi Girls.
I'm a long time lurker and have learned so much from all of you!
With that said, I'm at a loss..
We have suffered our 2nd CP this past summer. After testing by my GYN, he recommended I see a RE. I made an appointment with someone that he recommended and went for a consult, CD3 blood work and HSG.
Last night we had a follow up appointment where they told us that all looked good and to go home and DTD. We are to call when we get another positive test. No explanation as to the CPs or as to what we can do to prevent another one.
I feel sick over this because I stopped TTC all summer thinking that we needed some sort of medical intervention, or at least some monitoring, and this doctor completely disregarded the CPs.
My question is... would you continue to TTC and just pray for the best? or get a second opinion? and if you go for a second opinion, can you recommend someone who knows something about CPs? Unfortunately, I can't go to Dr. B because of the insurance issue.
Thanks Girls!
Best of luck to all of us!!

Second Opinions..?
i think any time you are uncomfortable with a doctor, you should get a second opinion. it's important for you to feel cared for and that you are being monitored how you'd like. i saw dr. b for a long time and loved him so he would be my first recommendation but if not, i am now with SIRM in NYC and love them! since your issue doesn't seem to be conceiving but more of multiple m/c, they would probably do a bunch of testing to see if there is some reason and then monitor you very closely as you TTC. good luck to you!

Re: Second Opinions..?
Can we ask how old you are? That would make a huge difference on an RE's opinion. Not meaning its the right thing but they tend to see an age and act accordingly. Its kind of annoying. Though I was 39 when I had a CP (Chemical Pregnancy) and because I got pregnant on my own they asked me (at 39!!!) if I wanted to continue to try on our own. I would always try...never stop. You just never know but if you want help, I would go to another RE. I mean you could do a natural IUI to speed up the months you didn't try. But, you may want to check your thyroid levels, do some blood clotting tests...not sure you need immune testing yet but that is something else to think about if you continue to have future issues. Or it just could be you haven't found the right egg. Did you do genetic testing yet on you and your DH? You just never know if you two are carriers of something and its an issue.

Re: Second Opinions..?
I'm 31, DH is 32.
So far they haven't found anything in our blood work that would prevent us from having a healthy pregnancy. I mean, I'm sure it could be an egg quality issue, but then why would there be no monitoring?
I'd rather not say who I am seeing .. but they are part of the North Shore group.

Second Opinions..?
If you are not happy with your RE go see another or 3 or 4...you have to be comfy with them or at least vocal enough to say that you are not satisfied with the testing that has been done...during this journey I have learned 2 things: be your own advocate and expect the unexpected!!!

This. You need to find an RE that you trust and will be open with you. My dr always told me whatever information he could, and when I asked, he'd tell me whatever I needed/wanted to know. If you're concerned that he hasn't done enough testing, I'd go see another dr.
Good luck!

Re: Second Opinions..?
My best advice.. if you are EVER in question .. go for another opinion. Especially if you find someone under your insurance, all it costs is a copay. It's worth it to have a conversation with a different set of eyes.

Re: Second Opinions..?
Thanks for all the help girls!
I received a call last night from the doctor who changed the protocol completely. Turns out my AMH is low (.7) so she is suggesting IVF at this point. I'm completely new to all of this and have no idea what AMH is and how IVF is going to help me, so I have a few questions when I speak with her later.
DH thinks we should get a second opinion. and maybe we will.
Also, I've read on here that people can look up on "SART" what is that and where can I find it online?
