Hcg question! So confused

I am still learning all these things. I am doing my first injectibles cycle for iui. They just called to say I am starting to surge on my own and do inject the hcg tonight and come for iui tomorrow. What is hcg and what is it doing for me??? Also do I use the same pen to inject that I used for follistim? One last question. I bd last night- would you also bd tonight or save the swimmers for tomorrow? Thanks ladies!!!

My meds came with different needles for the hcg shot (its called a trigger and it forces you to ovulate but at a specific time from when you take the shot)... call your Dr and ask how youre supposed to do it.

The HCG shot is different than the others. It should have a vial with powder (10,000 units) and one with water. Check with your doctor but you usually draw up 1 ml of the water and inject it in the HCG vial. Roll it back and forth to let all the powder dissolve. Then draw it back up. If you are supposed to do it as an IM injection the needle is long and you will have to have your husband inject it in your behind/upperhip. There are tons of videos on youtube that demo this. I hope you called your doctor and make sure before you do anything you know exactly what your doctor wants you to do! If you have to call the on call doctor go ahead - you don't want to mess anything up.

You should BD tonight, abstain tomorrow (night before IUI).
