GD ladies and weight gain...?
Hi ladies!
Hope you're all hanging in there! We're nearing the home stretch!
I'm a bit concerned about the lack of weight I've gained since being diagnosed with GD. My weight gain has stalled (I even lost a pound) and I'm at 33 weeks. I've only gained 13 lbs so far. My doctor wants me at 20 lbs at delivery.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? I'm seeing my dr today - but no sono, so I have no idea how big the baby is.

Re: GD ladies and weight gain...?
I had GD with my DD and for a while I lost some weight, then stayed about the same for most of my pregnancy. My OB wasn't really concerned though because I was eating very well and eating enough, it's just that my diet was quite restricted because of the GD.
Honestly, as long as the baby is growing and is healthy the actual amount of weight you gain really isn't that critical. It's just a number. There is no hard and fast number when it comes to pregnancy weight gain and when you have something like GD it changes things up a bit. I wouldn't worry too much, your body is going to do what it's going to do.

Re: GD ladies and weight gain...?
There was another thread about this not too long ago. I seem to be the only woman who just kept on gaining at least a lb a week after diagnosis. I found I was actually eating more than before becuase of all the snacks . . . I NEVER eat like that! I guess it was a bit healthier but I found myself forcing a lot of carbs where I normally wouldn't have them. I feel like I must be doing something wrong but I followed what my dietician told me and my numbers were great.

Oh darn. I missed that thread. Sorry!
I know what you mean about eating a lot!! I'm always eating!
Thank you both for responding. Apparently my OB isn't worried. Phewf.

GD ladies and weight gain...?
I had GD too and hardly gained any weight. The most weight I gained was really towards the end. That was water weight though...DD was born healthy. I think I gained like 15lbs altogether. I was overweight before getting pregnant though.

I had GD with DD and I didn't gain any weight from 30 weeks on. In total I gained only 13lbs. My doctor wasn't concerned.
