So I picked up my medical records...
and I'm completely heartbroken, especially after reading DHs SA.
0% morthpology, 37% motility, 14.3 mill and 12.7 total # of motile sperm. The rest of his #s are above average. My numbers seem to be ok from what I understand but I can't help but feel so defeated even though we haven't started anything yet
and it says under the dictation section "IVF with ICSI strongly recommended"

Re: So I picked up my medical records...
I am so sorry!!! Is it possible that he could see a urologist? Do you have IVF coverage?
I know how heart breaking it can be to know that you may need IVF

nope, we're paying OOP for everything. He has an appt for the urologist on the 13th, but I'm still trying to find out if that is covered.
I even called my insurance company to see if we can purchase infertility coverage privately (if it's even possible) and the woman says " oh that's an elective procedure, I would have a face lift by now if we covered elective procedures" . It took all of my strength not to go off on her

some people can be so stupid to think IF is a choice!!! If we could all get pregnant naturally why the hell would any of us go thru treatments !!! All I can say she is ignorant...oh man that blows that you dont have coverage for IVF...I have read about the IVF grants and mini ivf as well...I really hope that the urologist can offer you some answers

Try not to stress. There is a lot that can be done for male infertility.

Re: So I picked up my medical records...
If it makes you feel better my husband usually has about 15 million - 20 million sperm and only about 25% motility which improves to about 95% after they wash it and pick out the super sperm . We did IVF (with the strongest regimine) and it did not work, however we had 7 eggs and all fertilized, divided normally without any intervention. They made it to 6 day transfer. We are back to IUI's now and hoping for success by leaving eggs in my body.
Please remember there is ALWAYS ALWAYS hope!!!! Never give up!

There is hope....We have male IF issues....30.9% of my husbands DNA is fragmented. We have a beautiful son who was just 2 yesterday and Im 3 months pregnant with my 2nd.
Although we have been doing IF since 2007, IUI's with this MI issue would never work...My DS is from my first fresh IVF and my pregnancy now is from my 3rd fresh IVF. (All meds/anestesia are OOP and Im 80/20...but it was worth EVERYTHING and ANYTHING...
Stay strong and positive...IVF/ICSI (which if you decide to do would probably be the best option considering his morphology #'s) will work weather it's a fresh or FET... keep the faith!!!!
We are pulling for you on here :)

Re: So I picked up my medical records...
I'm so sorry, I know how you feel My DH had 0% morphology, 20% motility and a count of only 400,000. We did IVF with ICSI and have a 2 year old DS and another due at the end of the month. Try not to get discouraged with the numbers, they really don't mean anything when it comes down to IVF. You will have a baby at the end of this!!!

WHAT!? Omg i cannot believe the insurance rep said that to you... like dealing with IF an elective choice? ugh... I would try to see if maybe there is a trial study you can participate it in order to get some of it covered maybe.. I know there was a woman on here that did it but I can't remember exactly. best of luck!

Re: So I picked up my medical records...
Oh K, I'm so sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just because the news doesn't sound promising now, doesn't mean you won't have a baby of your own one day!
I though you had insurance through your DH's job, is it that IF is just not covered?
I don't know why people think this is an elective thing or why they would even have the insensitivity to compare it to something as dumb as a facial.
I'm glad your DH has an appointment with a urologist to help him with his #'s. I kno it may not work for everyone, but DH has a slight morphology problem, he was borderline, and i put him on a strict regimine of vitamins show to help improve sperm count and it worked wonders for him!
Good Luck and please keep positive!

Re: So I picked up my medical records...
you ladies are too sweet, thank you for all of your FMs and well wishes. DH and I are determined to do whatever is necessary to have our miracle baby, and I know I can't let bad news bring us down.
I loved hearing all of your success stories, and DH actually choked up hearing a few . It all begins again on the 15th, and I'm excited. I'm glad I know what exactly is wrong, and that we have a plan. Things happen for a reason, and as one LIF'er said to me, I'll get pregnant at the right time, with the right baby.
And I have to say that I did not let that nasty women get the last word. I said " I didn't ELECT to have my body not do what it's made for, and my husband didn't ELECT to have a low sperm count". DH told me to just leave it alone and hang up. It's not like me to walk away, I wanted to give her an earful!!

Re: So I picked up my medical records...
This was my issue. I actually opted to not even do a IUI because my doctor said it most likely would not work. It depends on how much time you have. You can try to put your husband on herbs and accupunture there is also clomid for men. Have him see a urologist. This though, all takes time to see results. If its just male factor you have a very very hign chance of IVF working. I know its is expensive but, my opinion it costed me time and money before I even started IVF.
