If your infant DC had Coxsackie?
How long did the rash/bumps on hands and feet last for?
We had the ped confirm yesterday that 12 month old DS does have it. His daycare called us Wednesday afternoon to inform us of the rash on his hands and feet while diapering him.
So, this is the timeline of events...
Last weekend, perfectly fine. Monday: Fine as usual up until dinner time when he refused to eat and was in bed asleep by 7:50 (almost an hour earlier than normal). He also felt very warm to me but he fell asleep so I just put him down. Slept as usual with a few wake ups. Tuesday: 5am had 101 fever. We called the ped and they said it was likely a virus. Said no need to come in, just give him pain reliever/fever reducer and call again if fever persists. By 8pm his temperature was near normal. Ate pretty well all day and drank fluids. Weds: No fever, perfectly fine. Until 3pm when daycare called. Thurs: Rash still present so we took him to dr. to confirm. (Did not go to daycare but wasn't schedule to anyway) Friday: We kept him home from daycare (had to rearrange work schedules). Rash/bumps on hands seem almost gone but still visible on feet and ankles/lower leg.
So... how much longer until the rash starts to disappear? Do you think he will be ok to go back to daycare Monday? Our ped said as long as a rash is present, he is contagious.
Oh, and they said they do not recommend putting any ointment on it because it would delay drying the rash out. So we are letting it run its course...
Thanks for any info. This is something new to us.

DS got it for the first time last month (he was 11 months at the time). Fever started on a Monday, rash appeared Wednesday, they were scabbed over by Sunday. Gone by the following Tuesday or Wednesday, so it lasted a week from start to finish.
It was horrible. DS was miserable for two days, wouldn't sleep or eat and cried constantly.

Re: If your infant DC had Coxsackie?
I think you are close to being done and will be fine by Monday. IFor me day 2 of rash was the worst and then it disappeared fast. Here is my story.....My daughter had high fever th-fr (101 in day and 103 at night). Saturday ran low fever all day. Friday night she got super miserable and crying all night. Took to dr saturday morning and dr saw spots in mouth. By later the day rash started to appear all on legs, diaper area and around mouth. Sunday skin rash at worst but by evening she started eating well so figured her mouth was feeling better. Monday more than half the rash was gone. I took her to dr on Monday (only bc her brother caught it but wasn't sure since he was complaing his ear hurt and had fever but no rash - he never got rash and only 1.5 day of fever) and dr said she wasn't contagious on Monday anymore although rash was minimally present and had a couple large blisters on her feet. By Tuesday, it was pretty much all gone except dried up rashes/blister - more scab like at that point.
