Disciplining a 15 month old
My 15 month old son has started to bite me (and only me). Each time he does he laughs and thinks it's funny. He's obviously doing this for a reaction which I'm trying not to give him (although it hurts when he does it...especially when he catches me off guard). I speak to him very seriously saying "No" and "That hurts..." (and he sometimes laughs when I do), but I stay firm and continue to use a very serious and firm tone with him to let him know I am upset. That usually stops it at that moment, but he continues to do it periodically. This also goes for him throwing food on the floor when he's done eating. I do make him pick it up and throw it out (which he will do). I also address him firmly to tell him it's not ok. He's also very verbal so we've been working on teaching him to say I'm full when he's done eating (which he is starting to do)....So I come to you ladies to ask if you have any tricks or tips that worked to address unwanted behavior for your LO. He is so little still that time outs and taking away toys doesn't work yet.....Any help is appreciated!

Disciplining a 15 month old
No help here, my dd has started hitting me and only me. I do the same and she thinks it is hysterical. I normally put her down and walk away.

Glad to know it isn't just me! I am a teacher and can easily manage a class of 26 nine year olds.....Struggling with one 15 month old! LOL

Re: Disciplining a 15 month old
My son hit. After he did it, I would say no very firmly, and put him in his pack and play and walk away. No attention or anything extra for 3-5 minutes.

My DD is 12 months and bites me also. I was firmly telling her "No! We don't bite. That hurts Mommy." But it didn't do anything. I mentioned it to my ped and he said to do time outs every single time she bites. I started it last week and she is honestly MUCH better. She hasn't bitten me in a couple of days. She went to a couple of times and I told her she would go in time out and she stopped. I put her in her crib with nothing in it for about a minute.

dd is also 15 months and sometimes bites or pinches just to get a reaction! We tell "her no bite or no pinch" and then tell her "do nice" and show her by hugging or touching her arm or head gently.
