Re: Are you more likely to have GD
I hope not!
I've actually looked it up online b/c I'm a little worried due to my family history (my mom is a diabetic).
These are the risk factors.
You are at greater risk for gestational diabetes if you:
Are older than 25 when you are pregnant
Have a family history of diabetes
Gave birth to a baby that weighed more than 9 pounds or had a birth defect
Have high blood pressure
Have too much amniotic fluid
Have had an unexplained miscarriage or stillbirth
Were overweight before your pregnancy

Are you more likely to have GD
i dont think PCOS has anything to do with passing the glucose test although i think some doctors send PCOS ladies for early GTTs. i have PCOS and failed the 1 hr but passed the 3 hr. i blame the failure on a starbucks caramel frappucino

Re: Are you more likely to have GD
i dont fit any of the criteria for gd and was diagnosed with it. when i complained about this diagnosis with my doctor because i didnt agree with it, she said well you have PCOS and she finds that most girls with pcos do tend to fail the gd test. its a hormonal thing she explained and does have a strong correlation. it doesnt mean everyone with pcos will have gd but it is a factor that most lists don't state.

Re: Are you more likely to have GD
from what i've read in the past, women with pcos have a greater likelihood of getting GD. That's why both of my doctors agreed to keep me on Metformin throughout the pregnancy and it will hopefully help prevent me from getting it. Im also at risk because of twins.

Are you more likely to have GD
I would *think* it might increase your odds but then again I think many women who get it have no risk factors, which is why they test everyone. The only risk factor I had is family members who are type II, but most of them are overweight and since I'm not I didn't think this would be a problem for me. I was pretty surprised when I failed all my tests. Hoping I pass this time around!

I have 5 out of the 7, plus PCOS and have not had GD with either PG.

Re: Are you more likely to have GD
I have PCOS and was tested twice during both pregnancies and passed all 4 times :)
I've actually had a lot more than 4 GC tests (not pg related) and pass everytime
