coxsackie

My 8mth old DD was just diagnosed with coxsackie.
Last week I had taken her to the doctor bc she had diarrhea, no fever or anything so he had us do a stool culture (came back negative). During the week she had a bad diaper rash, and I noticed that she had some bumps on her bottom (in hindsight I realize this was the coxsackie) but I just thought it was due to all the pooping. The diarrhea stopped and she was fine. Then today she spiked a fever and we took her to the doc he looked in her mouth and saw the blisters in back of her throat. Nothing on her hands or feet though.
We have a family party on Sunday and my doc said she would be fine to go. Is the incubation period over? Do you think she is going to get worse or does it sound like shes at the end of its course?

Re: coxsackie

I was told my daughter could get others sick if you still saw the blisters. She also has a fever. I would ask who was having the party what they thought. I wouldn't want my daughter exposed to that. My daughter had listers for almost two weeks last year. It was miserable. Also I think it can still be passed in the feces up to a month

Re: coxsackie

I know with DS2 by the time he had wide spread rash, it was the end of the "bad part" of the cold.

With that being said my Ped said it was HIGHLY contagious...I would see how she is feeling bc DS was miserable for the first few days. If there are going to be alot of kids there I would probably not go bc its seems to be more contagious for hte kids, but you have to use your best judgement and if the dr said she is okay, then I guess she is....
