Re: baby acne
Emily had HORRIBLE horrible baby acne. We ended up taking her to the dr because it was her whole face and was all red and enflamed and the dr recommended hydrocortisone cream 1% -- we got cortizone10 plus with added moisturizers after trying other ones and it cleared it up right away, but we did have to continue using it for about 2 months until it was all gone.

Re: baby acne
See, I don't know about washing the face twice daily. A lot of time babies get acne because thier face is dry and then overproduces oils -- because it hasnt learned to regulate yet -- and washing twice daily might dry it out.
The hydrocortisone soothed it because of the moisturizers and aloe and also helped to lessen the redness and swelling.
Maybe call the dr back and confirm what he wants? And mention the hydrocortisone?

we gave her a bath once a night and used aveeno lotion...we still use it because it makes her skin soooo soft.

Aveeno does have great products for babies that have sensitive skin. Emily also had Eczema and we use the special sensitive skin soaps for her because J&J and Huggies soaps were too harsh for her.

Re: baby acne
I just left her skin alone and it went away. I didn't want to add to the problem.

Re: baby acne
My DS had horrible baby acne. My doctor recommended washing his face with Cetaphil. I used it diligently (2x a day) for 2 weeks and nothing. I stopped using it and it eventually went away on it's own...but it took almost 6 months!

Re: baby acne
DS didn't have it that bad but we would just bathe him and put Aquaphor all over him, just alittle though b/c it's thick!

Re: baby acne
Dr didn't tell us to do anything in particular, but said it can take 4 mos to clear up. She was not concerned about it at all.

Re: baby acne
My SIL swears by this and some woman on these boards said it works too. Wash your babies face with a towel that has Johnson and Johnson Baby Shampoo (Avoid eye area). It clears up in 2-3 days.
