Round 3 of name debate...UGGG
Well last night DH and I had it narrowed to Elizabeth and Isabella - at first he did not like Elizabeth. I am classic and elegant in style and threw these back in the pot:
Isabella - love the flow with last name. I like the nn Bella - Izzy - maybe. Classic yet cultural/worldly and romantic states my husband and I agree.
Elizabeth - Liz - not really sure of ... there are just too many that her original name would get lost. It is timeless classic/pretty which yet work like the little black dress concept ... timeless but worn.
. DoesClare - I don't know too old?not have the jazz or flair that Isabella has. It is a pretty classic name and no worry about nicknames!
Ava - DH thinks is too short, don't have to worry too much about nicknames. Simple, short and sweet.
Yes, all except Clare is popular. Help! Frances, Ann and Clare (if I do not go with is as first name) are possible middle names). Ann is a middle name thing on my mothers side and Frances is a name thing on my DH side. Our DS has Francis for his middle name so the connection with her as Frances might be nice too.

It seems like you and DH agree on Isabella so I would go with that. Neither of you seem sold on the other three names.

Round 3 of name debate...UGGG
From all your posts--I think you really like Isabella. It's a beautiful name. Really is. So what that it is popular. It's popular because it is pretty. Growing up, I loved names that were popular--Jessica, Ashley, Melissa. I knew a few of them, but always liked those names. Also, you can't predict how many people you will know or will be in your circle with any name. My daughter is Lilah. I knew no other Lilah/Lila/Lyla when she was born (2008). I know a few now, and she had in her class a Leila pronounced the same way. But, there were no Isabellas, Avas, Olivias, or other top names (well..there is a Sophia.) And..she didn't care that there was another girl with her name. If the name is pretty, it is pretty! (also- if I ever have another daughter, one of our top girl names is Isabel. Izzy as a nn. ;))

You mean your daughter who was born in 2008 has not had any Isabellas or Avas in her class? Did I read incorrectly? What town / county are you from ... they say to take that into consideration.

This is what we did with boy names. Stressed and stressed until we threw it into a hat. And then we had a girl.

With our first , DS we waited until we knew what we were having then started looking at names. DS was not this difficult.

Round 3 of name debate...UGGG
I honestly drove myself crazy with girl names but never really had decided on THE name (there were several names of deceased members in DH's family that I was willing to use).
She ended up being Ann Kathryn (although she was Kathryn Jeanne for 15 seconds).
My list was: Ann Elizabeth Kathryn Jeanne (that we agreed on) And I think I had Carly and Torie on my own list.

Re: Round 3 of name debate...UGGG
DH and I had two names picked out and didn't decide on the name until I was in recovery after my c/s.
Leading up to deciding on those two names we each made an "NCAA Name Bracket" and every few days we would knock one name from each of our lists. I would knock one off of his and he would knock one off of mine. We did have a few common names but they were not ranked in the same order.
Eventually we got down to two names we both liked.
Picking a name can be stressful but if you really do not want a "Popular" name then you should take it off of your list.

You mean your daughter who was born in 2008 has not had any Isabellas or Avas in her class? Did I read incorrectly? What town / county are you from ... they say to take that into consideration.
Yep, that's right. Her first school was in Queens, and then we moved to CT. Now, my other daughter, who was born in 2010, did have 2 Isabellas in her class at her school in Queens. One went exclusively by "Izzy", the other went exclusively by "Bella". They weren't in her class at the same time, at least not for more than a few weeks.
Also, I do have 1 friend who named her daughter (born in 2010) Ava, and know another Ava born this year.
My daughter born in 2008 has had the following (girl) names in her class, from what I remember: Amalia, Keira, Sophia, Chloe, Riley, Sloane, Caitlyn, London.
My daughter from 2010 has had, in addition to Izzy and Bella, Sienna, Madeline, Hemming, Gianna, and I'm blanking on some of the others from early on...
It's so hard to predict what names will be around your daughter, and it will change over time. I was one of many variations of my name in elementary school. By the time I was in college, law school, and now work, there are very few with my name or a variation, and I see other names all over the place, that were not around as much when I was young. If you pick a pretty name, I don't think you can go wrong--popular or not.

I second the names in a hat idea but for what it's worth, I like Isabella Clare the best.

Re: Round 3 of name debate...UGGG
My DD's name is Elizabeth, so that's what I would pick.
It was just as popular the year she was born as it was in 1918 when my great Aunt Be (Elizabeth) was born!
My opinion aside, if you and your DH agree on Isabella, why are you still searching?
If all else fails, wait until she's born to decide. When you look at her you may have a feeling.

Ita. Dh and i just could not agree on a name. We had two and i wasnt crazy about either of them. I figured we would just wind up naming him Lucas since that was DHs fave name. The 2nd option was Ryan which DH randomly suggested one day and we never really seriously discussed using it again. Sure enough when i saw him, i knew he was a Ryan and now its my favorite name in the world. Try not to stress over it now because you WILL figure it out eventually!
