Do you ever just pop in, or show up early to see what is going on in dc's class? Is it ok to pop in whenever?

I went to visit several daycare centers recently. One DC said I can come to tour whenever, no appt needed. The other, I needed an appt time well in advance. Now I wonder if it's acceptable to show up, checking on ds?

Thanks for any feedback!

Re: Daycare moms

At the daycare DS goes to I can show up anytime to say hello. I work about 10 minutes from his school and they encourage me to come over if I have the time and I don't need to call in advance.

ETS: I just reread your post andyou said you needed an appointment to tour the facility. When I was looking, I needed an appointment too. She said that the kids are on a schedule and it would be best if i came at a certain time, rather than just showing up -- but this was before I signed DS up there.

Re: Daycare moms

To tour the facility before you make a decision, yes some places require an appt.
I would assume it's because they have to make sure someone is free to show you around.

But now that DD is enrolled I can come whenever I want.
I don't though- if she sees me she will freak and want to come home.
But they would never restrict me from coming by if I wanted to

Re: Daycare moms

When I was looking at centers most I had to schedule a time for the initial tour but once DS was enrolled I could go anytime.

I would not want to go to a place that made me schedule a time if I wanted to stop in to see DS.

I am allowed to stop in whenever at DS' daycare whenever but, he wouldn't take well to me coming in for a visit - he'd want to leave with me and it would upset him and it's just not worth it.

I used to work at a daycare and we did walk in tours all the time. When searching that's all I did actually. I wanted to see the place anytime I popped in. I specifically recommend the afternoon so you can see who the closers are too. They usually hire young HS girls for those 3-6 shifts. If you like a place go in again also so you can get an idea of who's working there.
When your is actually enrolled you should be able to pop in on them at any time. I'd be cautious of any place that doesn't allow it.

I can drop in, unannounced, at any time. I do all of the time.

This exactly.
When DS just started and a baby I visited, but once he got older I didn't. I didn't want to disturb their routine and get DS upset having to leave.

Re: Daycare moms

Where I work you can go anytime you want to see your LO and we have cameras. As far as tours it can go either way but best to have appt because you dont want to go when kids are sleeping then you dont get the whole experience.

We had to schedule our tour. They like to do it at a specific time everyday when the kids are outside so that most of the classrooms are empty. It makes for an easier tour so you can see everything without a bunch of distractions. But once your DC is enrolled, you can drop in anytime unannounced to check on DC.

We had to schedule an appointment for our tour before we started sending DD there. I've only had to go there twice to give DD medicine (they're not authorized to by the state), but it was confusing to DD and disrupted things a bit, so I never popped in "just because". But I was always welcomed to.
