I am scared...
so I went in today for an RE appt and I was told that I would need to repeat the trial transfer since the first time they could not get the catheter in...the IVF nurse said they would have to dilate my cervix...she said she shouldnt hurt too bad and to take 2 advils an hr before...now I am freaking out that this is going to hurt as hell!!!
Has anyone had this? Is this going to hurt? I am going to the appt alone since DH cant take the day off but I am scared  ...when they originally did IUI's they hurt pretty bad and I can only imagine that this is going to be worse...

I don't have experience with this specifically, but during my first IUI cycle after our first loss, Dr.B had a hard time getting past my cervix and did something to dilate it, I don't remember what... I did not take anything beforehand and though I have no vivid memory of that day, I don't remember being in pain. I just think it was uncomfortable.
Put it this way.. as much as it stinks you have to jump through MORE hoops right now... better to figure this out NOW before you go for the actual transfer!!

No experience in that particular case, but during my first IVF transfer the catheter was too thick so they had to transfer the embryos into a different one then do it. When I had my fetal demise they had to dilate my cervix in order to get labor started since my cervix wouldn't dilate naturally which was uncomfortable, but not PAINFUL.

They had to dilate me too - it wasn't a big deal! Don't stress over it!

I had to do this several times for m IUI's and it wasn't bad. If I had to compare it to something it would be like a cramp.
A pinch on the back of the arm is 1,000 times worse and so is child birth...
YOU WILL BE FINE, DONT STRESS, ITS NOT BAD...

Thanks guys!!! I am just freaking out about needing to be dilated since I know I have had IUI's that have hurt...I have to grin & bear it
