Am I in the minority
to want some privacy when feeding the baby?
A lot of the mothers I know just seem to do it in front of others and I just can't bring myself to do it. Perhaps it is part of my upbringing.

If you are talking about nursing, I am not going to flash my boobs, I will be as discreet as possible if I am out but am not going to hide what I am doing either as I am proud of it

Yeah that is what I was talking about. I don't mean hide it. Let me put it this way, I was at a BBQ, and this girl had everything out there in front of little kids, her parents, Aunts Uncles, Cousins, etc.
I wouldn't be able to bring myself to do that, not would I want people to have to look at me doing that.
Like I said I might be in the minority. It is all an adjustment for me.

I do what I have to do but you cannot see my whole boob region if you know what I mean? I understand where you are coming from though, some women whip it out like it's a show... I do not do that, I just do what I have to is all. I don't need any added attention... People do not need to be watching me nor do I want them too!

My sister is very discreet with BFing. We were also raised very conservative and would never FLASH it out in front of people. but with baby # 4, shes become a pro and you dont even realize she's BFing most of the time.
After being experienced with it, and getting comfortable with it, you will FIND a way to be discreet, leaving the room so often and sticking yourself in a corner somewhere is no fun after a while... use a light blanket or a shirt to help cover you up..

I am no longer BF, but when I was, I WOULD NOT do it in public. I just didnt feel comfortable. I always brought a pumped bottle with me.

I would nurse anywhere... I spend enough time alone at home, if there are friends and family to speak to I don't want to go hide in a room, but I do try to be as discreet as possible since I know it can make other people uncomfortable.
I won't stick my baby under a blanket though, she is just as interested in seeing other people as I am. Her comfort matters more to me than someone elses.
As long as I'm dressed right, the only time anyone could see anything is right before she latches on and right when she comes off. While she's eating she covers everthing with her head.

my comfort level changes with who's around. I'm more comfortable with it than I thought I'd be, but I still wouldn't whip them out in large groups, or in front of certain people.
I know there are some people who would be uncomfortable if I were to nurse in front of them so I try to respect that.

the only people I was really comfortable with nursing infront of because I really didnt know how to be discret about it was my mom, sister and sil. If people came ove I usually went into his bedroom because it took a while for him to latch on and for me to get comfortable. Towards the end I was able to be a little more discret and actually did feed him infront of my BIL once but that was it.
