trigger shot question
I am triggering tonight and spaced out when my nurse called. In my ivf packet, it says that the hcg (novarel) is subcutaneous. I thought it was intramuscular. Does this mean I can use the smaller needles? I'm so stressed.

I think there is a mistake in their paperwork Bc everything else I'm reading online says it's IM.

Re: trigger shot question
I was told to do it just like any other of the injectables. Through the belly with the small needle.
(eta even though the instructions said it should be intramuscular the nurse still said to do it subcutaneously)

Re: trigger shot question
Mine was subcutaneously and the next day I woke up with a super sore spot on my stomach, which is apparently normal.

Re: trigger shot question
Does it make a difference whether you are doing IUI as opposed to IVF?

This exactly.
We ended up doing it IM, but my nurse said this morning that I could have done it subcutaneously. Oh well! My ER is tomorrow morning and she said it didn't matter. No more needles for me- that's one part of ivf I will not miss!

Yep same for me- Novarel was IM. I used the big needle to draw, and the little one to inject. Good Luck!!!!!!!
