Q regarding "newborn" and "0-3 month" clothing

Can newborns wear 0-3 month clothing? Are they almost the same thing? I have a pile of newborn clothes and a pile of 0-3 month clothing, I was just wondering how soon LO might be able to wear some of the 0-3 month clothes. Also, my mom wants me to bring DD home in a 0-3 month coming home outfit, when I was intending to get an outfit labeled newborn. Is there a big difference?

It will depend on the size of the baby, but with that said 0-3 usually starts at 8lbs. I always start with 0-3 clothes and although its a bit big on the newborn they tend to grow into them faster. My boys would have grown out of newborn in a week.

You can always purchase the outfit in newborn and 0-3 and see what size the baby is when born. Have someone wash the size you need while in the hospital. Just in case you go early or baby is really small. But otherwise I think 0-3 should be just fine.

it depends on the size of the baby especially when born ~ I know my son only lasted in newborn clothing for 1 month. So with this lo I am only getting a couple pieces of newborn and the rest 3 months. So she can grown in them!

Totally depends on the baby. My DS was born over 10lbs but he is in perfect proportion so he really isnt chunky at all. His coming home outfit JUST fit and it was the only time he ever wore a newborn sized outfit. I have heard of some banies weighing 7lbs needing 0-3 months and ive heard of 8+ lb babies wearing newborn sizes. I think it mostly depends on how LOs weight is distributed.

I agree with all the ladies, depends on the baby. My son was born 7lbs 15oz and wore newborn size until he was about a month old. If I put 0-3mth size on him he was swimming in it. It wasnt until he was about 8-9lbs that the 0-3mth size started fitting him..

DD was born at 7 lbs 2.5 oz (full term) and she lost a chunk of weight the first week of her life so she wore nb clothes for at least 4 weeks. 0-3 was swimming on her. It does depend on the brand, though, too. Gerber clothes run VERY small. So small that I don't buy any, actually.

My girl is still in newborn and she's about to be 1 month old. Born 7.2lbs and up to low 8's right now. It all depends on how they carry their weight too.

0-3 month is def too big my for girl and I glad I'm getting use out of the newborn clothes!

I just bought my friend a bunch of 0-3 month outfits for her newborn. Her baby was just under 8lbs and since 0-3 month usually starts at about 8lbs I figured she would be fitting in to them in no time.

i think its silly to expect your baby to go home from the hospital in 0-3 unless you are pretty sure your baby will be 10lbs. newborn is a much safer bet if you want something that actually fits. if you do not care if the outfit is hanging off of the baby, then go 0-3. or you can just bring one of each and return the one you dont use.

DS was 8 lbs 1 oz at birth. He was on the shorter side so he wore newborn clothes for at least 1 month. He was swimming in the 0-3 month clothes at the beginning. It really depends on the baby and your preference.

Re: Q regarding "newborn" and "0-3 month" clothing

My ds was born 6.5lbs and he wore newborn for a month but he also had issues gaining weight. Dd was 7.5lbs and came home looking like the hulk in her newborn outfit lol She was in nb for less then a week. But she was a good eater and gainer. I am going to see what my growth scan says and then decide from there. If the baby is going to be 7.5 or bigger I will be skipping nb this time around.

Re: Q regarding "newborn" and "0-3 month" clothing

DH was a big baby and so was I. I don't plan on getting a newbirn outfit. Our families know not to buy that size either because chances are our LO won't even be able to wear that size.
