Hormone testing - is this true
I read that hormone levels can affect fertility. I got my progesterone levels checked but that's it. Do drs do hormone testing and what kind of hormones do they test for? Started googling but not getting anywhere

They should be testing your LH, FSH and Estrogen on CD3 of your cycle. Progesterone is OK to check but that is not going to tell you much. And I assume they did the Progesterone testing after you ovulated and hopefully around cycle day 24/26. And truthfully, not really sure what CD3 does tell you about your hormones. Except weather its the start of your cycle or not. If FSH is over 15 they start to get concerned about diminishing ovarian reserve but I've seen so many get pregnant with high FSH. There's so many variable in this that now that I think about it...hormones are probably the least of everyone's issues. But, its a place to start.

Yes... that is one of the first things the GYN or RE will do if you start looking into why you have not conceived. FSH LH E2 TSH (thyroid) Progesterone Prolactin (I think)

Re: Hormone testing - is this true
if you are getting any fertility treatment from any doctor your hormone levels should be tested first (around cd3) instead of going to clomid first. the hormone levels will tell a lot about why you are having fertility issues to begin with.
also, has your DH done an SA? this is also one of the first things that should be done, especially if you have a very regular, predictable cycle. unless you have an obvious issue (ie anovulation, absent AF, etc) for all you know it could be him and meanwhile they are pumping you with unnecessary meds.

Yes, they have done a SA, I had the tube test, they tested my progesterone, I had a D&C to remove a fibroid and they tested my thyroid. And now I have a script for cd3 for FSH LH and E2 bc I asked for it.
