Godparents questions...

My BIL is asking my DH if there is anything traditionally that he is supposed to "DO" for Emily's baptism next weekend. We told him just being there is enough -- but he is asking if there is something specific that he is supposed to buy -- since his GF is telling him that there is, and we just don't know what.

Most likely we are going to tell him the same that we've been saying all along -- we just want him to be there. We've already bought the gown ourselves and my sister is buying her a cross. But is there anything that tradition usually says the godfathers should do?

We were thinking maybe if he wanted to get her somethng special we saw a bib that says "MY Godfather Loves me" at the store where we got her gown and that would be nice!

Traditionally in my family and DH's the Godfather gets the cross and the Godmother buys the outfit and stuff.

Since your sister already got the cross, the bib is a nice idea. Also since it's a girl he can get her a nice pair of earrings, or a bracelet. How about a charm bracelet?

Godfather purchases the cross, Godmother the outfit...if they want to do this traditionally.
But in my case, we used my grandmother's gown so the Godmother purchased Molly the cross and her godfather got her a beautiful bible.
