Doc Referals
My doc gave me a bunch of referals. The first one being a blood test for TSH, FSH, LH done on cycle day 3,4,or 5.
She also gave me a referal for an HSG and a referal for a pelvic sono.
My question is which test do I have to go for first the pelvic sono or the HSG?
Also, is there a specific time of the month I should make the appts for either test?
TIA!

Re: Doc Referals
I'd do the sono before the HSG because it's less invasive and more comfortable. The sono can really be done at any time in your cycle, though usually in the first half. The HSG is done around days 6-11 so AF is over but before you ovulate since it could interfere with an early pregnancy.
Was this your ob/gyn who is doing the testing or an RE? Do you know what your treatment is going to be? If you've been TTC for a while, I'd probably recommend going straight to an RE who will monitor you closely during a cycle.
Also, has your husband had an SA? That's the easiest and least invasive place to start.

Re: Doc Referals
My OB/gyn is doing the testing. I believe I can go to a quest lab for the hormone blood test and she wrote me a script for the sono and HSG. She actually said the same thing as you. Although she wrote me a script for the HSG, she said to wait until we get DH test results back to move forward with that test.

Re: Doc Referals
I got my bloodwork and sono done the 2nd day of AF. The HSG I got done a week after AF.

Re: Doc Referals
Of course I didn't ask my doc any questions.. so now I'm even more confused.
Can I go to a quest lab for hormone blood work? I know we can't go there for DH's SA. For that we have to make an appt for drop off at NSLIJ center for reproduction.
