Italian trip tour as a gift
We want to get my parents a trip to Italy for their anniversary next year. Any suggestions on where to look to plan this? Any good tour groups? Thanks!

Re: Italian trip tour as a gift
I can tell you that with organized tours, you get what you pay for. I did a Cosmos tour of Italy with my mom in 2004. I had just got my first real job out of college and picked the cheapest tour. The hotels that we stayed in were far from the city centers and any meals that were included in the tour tended to be in very average restaurants. Still, I have fond memories of that trip since it was the only trip I took with just my Mom, it was my first trip to Europe, and I was in no position to complain due to my budget.
I would look at Globus and Cosmos (related companies), Trafalgar and Perillo. For a first time trip to Italy, they should get to see Rome, Venice and Florence. Go to the tours' websites.. and check out the hotels that each tour uses. Check out their reviews on tripadvisor. You will at least see how close they will be staying to everything.

We took my mom to Italy as a birthday present for her 60th. Our travel agent recommend Globus. It was wonderful.
We also looked into Perillo and Tauk (they were amazing but out of our budget).

We did this as well. Loved every moment of it. About half of the meals were included and half we could go out on our own for. The places they had were average and the places we found were amazing. Oh how I wish I could go back, like today
