IVF to IVF

I have been doing IUIs and when one doesn't work I start the next cycle a few days later on day one.

I assume IVF isn't the same or is it?

no, most people have to do either lupron or bcp for 2 or 3 weeks prior to starting the IVF stims. this is to suppress your natural cycle so that the doctor can better control your cycle with meds.

Depends on your protocol. Since BCPs never suppressed me, I did cycle after cycle....

Depends. I've done varying periods of suppression beforehand, but I also did an IVF immediately on the heels of another attempt that was converted to IUI.

The main things is that if an IVF fails, they usually want to do some poking around before they do it again to see if they can find out why. So there tends to be a period in between.

Because IVF hyperstims your ovaries, there's a good chance your next cycle could be anovulatory (meaning no ovulation). REs tend to want at least one rest cycle in between IVFs to give your body a chance to rest before being hyperstimmed again. This also gives your body and hormones a chance to return to "normal."

Many IVF cyces also start with 2-3 weeks of BCPs so a full IVF cycle is about 7 weeks from BCP to pregnancy test. You can basically do 2 IUIs in the same time as 1 IVF, but your chances of conception are much higher with IVF.

for us it was not..between ins,bcp and getting cleared by hemo it was a process
