Re: omega 3
This is the only one I've taken that doesn't repeat on me, and it's supposed to be mercury-free: fish oil
The have an EPA/DHA fish oil complex too, but I've never tried it: EPA/DHA

Re: omega 3
Is the DHA that's part of our prenatal vitamins the same things as Omega 3? Or does the DHA include Omega 3?
Sorry, I'm confused bc I was under the impression that it was the same thing Guess I have a trip to GNC to make...

My dr told me not to take fish oil if you're taking DHA. Aren't they the same thing basically?

Fish oil is a source of omega 3, which is made up of DHA and EPA. The way I understand it is that we get a lot of omega 6 & 9 in our diets without trying, and we need the omega 3 supplement because the body needs them in balance. And prenatals have it because the baby needs the DHA for brain growth.

My RE told me to take one or the other. In looking at the ingredients in my fish oil (which I took before TTC) and my DHA, there are the exact same active nutrients, slightly different quantities (fish oil is actually higher than my DHA) but both still 100% or more of the daily value required.
I really think you only need one, but you might want to check again with your dr.

Re: omega 3
G- if your pre natal has the DHA then you should be fine. I would not add in an omega 3 without speaking to your ob.

Re: omega 3
Yeah, its the same thing. I use to take a pre-natal that had the DHA pills. Now I use Nordic Naturals (cause I use over the counter Pre-natal...so much cheaper with my insurance plan). The only thing is no two pills have the same amount of DHA/EPA and I have never seen a recommended amount that you should be taking. However, the pharmacy DHA is probably more regulated than a supplement (which is not). Actually not sure if that is good or bad...LOL... I guess as long as you are taking it, its good.
DHA is from fish...not sure who posted that. But, mostly its from Salmon and sardines and other low mercury fish. Which is why you want pharmaceutical grade...so its low in metals.
