Anyone else doing at home BP monitoring?

I'm 35 weeks and doc continues to be concerned about my BP. I was in L&D last week for a high BP reading, but all labs (including 24 urine) can back normal.

Saw the doc yesterday and I told him my headaches continue. He told me if I experience a headache I am to take my BP...if it's high, wait 30 minutes and test again. If still high I am to call him to discuss next steps.

The headaches don't really hurt -- I'm more upset about what it means...heading towards preeclampsia and an early induction.

Anyone else in this same boat?

Re: Anyone else doing at home BP monitoring?

I had to monitor my blood pressure pretty much my entire pregnancy - I used a digital arm cuff I got from CVS. My OB wanted me to do readings throughout the day since I was also on medication and we were adjusting it as my blood pressure went higher in the pregnancy.

I didn't have any protein in my urine until 37 weeks. At that point, my creatine and uric acid levels were rising (my OB was doing blood work too), so I had my baby then. He was perfectly fine, a happy and healthy 7 lbs 12 oz.

It is important to monitor your blood pressure when you have headaches, blurry vision, see spots or have pain in your upper chest quadrant area (under your breast).

I don't have to monitor at home, but I have had some blood pressure issues. It started at 38 weeks for me and I had headaches and weird vision issues. They told me as long as it isn't persistent and goes away within 30 minutes of lying on my side, that it's ok. My labwork was fine too. Just wanted to share that at my 40 week appointment, my pressure was back down and really good. Hopefully with monitoring, you'll be able to go a while longer and things may even get better and not worse.Chat Icon Just wanted to give you some hope that you may not end up with preeclampsia or an induction. I'm now 40w and 2 days and no induction scheduled yet. Good luck to you!

with ds at 34 weeks I started feeling puffy, almost 36w was out of work due to preeclampsia- high blood pressure and the 24 hr protein test put me over the edge - 36w1d was induced.....

This time around I'm starting off already with high blood pressure - dr told me I can take a baby asprin to help against preeclampsia and I have a panasonic automatic blood pressure machine.
