Hospitals and insurance
DH and I are TTC so i'm trying to get everything in order. Do you have to confirm that the hospital where you plan to deliver your baby takes your insurance or is it enough that your ob/gyn takes it? not sure how this works.
Thanks

Re: Hospitals and insurance
Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure hospitals are required to take ALL insurances... Just make sure your ob takes your insurance and you will be fine.

Re: Hospitals and insurance
I didn't want ANY surprises. I checked online to confirm that the hospital I want to deliver at takes my insurance and I called my insurance a few weeks ago to confirm.
eta: they also told me at the same time what they cover, like 2 nights, etc.
good luck ttc!!

Re: Hospitals and insurance
You should definately check your maternity benefits specifically, then ensure your OB is participating. Hospital benefits are different, so you dont need to check if they par, but like what your benefits will cover for delivery, ER visits and infant care.

Re: Hospitals and insurance
I assumed that bc my OB was affiliated with St V's that St. V's would take my insurance. Silly I guess.
But, my OB's office sat me down after an appt in the very beginning to go over with me what my insurance would cover even tho I knew it already bc I verified. It was a relief to get it all on paper.

I know that Stony Brook doesn't take Americhoice and I think they don't take Aetna but that could have changed.
