Planning ahead: tips for day of ER and Xfer?

Sorry, the teacher in me can't even deal until the underwear is laid out! Chat Icon So in all seriousness- all of you who have been through this, what tips would you recommend for ER day? Is there anything you would have done differently (like, hey idiot don't wear a suit). What should I eat? not eat? etc....

Hey can I have sushi 4 days before my ER? or is that really bad? I think I'm gonna faint that I can't have sushi for 10 months Chat Icon

I would say to wear something comfortable. You will be crampy afterwards and you're not going to want jeans digging into you. You can't eat that morning but maybe bring something small with you to have on the way home.

sushi a few days before is probably fine. Do you eat raw fish? California rolls are always fine.
As for the day of, you'll probably be too sleepy to do anything. Just make sure you have a ride and that you have a plan to go home and rest for the day. The retreival day for me was actually very easy. I felt fine that night..
I started to bloat a little the next day.
good luck!!

I am actually @ the RE's office waiting to do my ER! I wore sweats and sneakers. No jewelry and no nail polish (as per instructions but have no idea why?) Just make sure what you wear is easy to take off and on. You might be crampy after ER so you'll want to be comfy for the ride home.

They told me no perfume, deoderant, or body lotion for ER and ET.

I felt fine after ER, no cramping or bleeding. Then for the next 5 days felt fine. It was only after my ET did I feel bloated.

Good luck!

I was tired that day so we went home and I napped. Could have been the trip to nyc that knocked me out.

But comfy clothes, no jewelry, no food or drink after 12...they usually tell you the drill.

They will give you a list of instructions. Basically, it's what everyone else is saying. I wore comfy clothes. No contacts, nothing with scents (perfume, moisturizer, etc), no make-up or jewelry. Also, no nail polish. Since you are going under anesthesia they need to monitor your blood flow. The first sign of a problem is your fingers turning blue - so no polish on ER day.

I woke up from anesthesia and felt great! Not even sleepy or anything at all. I was ready to go! I didn't have cramps or anything that day. The next 2 days I felt pretty awful, but I was fine to go to work. Just nothing crazy.

why wouldnt you be able to have sushi before the ER??Chat Icon

if you get pregnant you might hate sushi so ya never know! i usually love it but wanted absolutely nothing to do with it while pregnant so i wouldn't worry about that kind of stuff now!

Sushi is fine before your ER, just not after the ET. The only reason I avoided it was I didn't want to chance getting bad sushi and getting sick (not that it's ever happened to me before, but you never know). I wanted my body as happy as possible during my IVF cycle.

Re: Planning ahead: tips for day of ER and Xfer?

Honestly because my RE told me to avoid alcohol, Advil, and basically things that aren't safe for baby. IDK I guess I was confused... I never had bad sushi either, but didn't want to chance any crazy parasites. I eat rolls anyway, but you know germs are everywhere, so I got myself nuts. Sushi, here I come!!!!!
