Strollers for two.... lots of questions

DD is going to be 2 years 3 months when DC #2 is born this October.

Right now I have a Peg Perego Pliko Switch stroller and a Jeep umbrella stroller.

Am I going to need a double stroller?

Do I even need to consider a double stroller since I probably won't be using a stroller often during the winter months and by the time I use it, DD will be almost 3?

Do either of my current strollers convert to a double stroller?

Re: Strollers for two.... lots of questions

I have a Maclaren Techno, but opted to get a double stroller for when I have the two (I got the Combi Twin Sport). My son will be 2 yr. 7 mo. when ds2 is born, but he still goes in the stroller when we go out by ourselves & on trips w/a lot of walking where he gets tired (like the zoo). We probably won't use it often when we go out as a family, but I know that I'll need it for the days that I'm home alone w/both kiddos if I ever want to leave the house!

My DS will be teh same as your DD when number 2 is born and I opted to get a double stroller.

I got the City Mini double - I figured I would use it mostly for walking and going places where DS would have to walk a lot otherwise (zoo, Disney). I wasn't as concerned about the width because I really don't plan on shopping with the two of them together much.

I know the Jeep can't convert into a double and I don't think the Peg can either - but, I"m not 100% sure.

Hey Buddy!

One of my friends has the City mini double and her children are the same spacing that yours will. She loves it and wouldnt go anywhere without it. We recently went to the mall and her three year old sat in the stroller with her one year old. Imagine chasing after your older DD in the mall and having to have the little one in a stroller. Better if they are both strapped in.

3 year olds still get tired. I'd probably get a double. Maybe not top of the line but I'd get a decent priced one that rated well.

What about the City Select? I know it's pricey but it's a double and if your older DC doesn't want to be in the stroller that much longer than it's not like you are stuck with a double..you have the option of making it single.

Re: Strollers for two.... lots of questions

My daughters are going to be 20 months apart. I decided to get a double stroller and figure I will need it if I go to the park, mall, library, etc. I went with the city mini double because you can get an infant seat adaptor and it was very light weight, easy to fold and pushed easily. It was a HARD decision though- I researched like crazy!
good luck!

DD is due when DS will be 26 months, so pretty much the same age difference as your two will be.

As much as I didn't want to get a double, I realized there will definitely be lots of times when I need to use one - especially since my DH works weekends and I'll be alone with both of them, and DH will have them both by himself on his days off. Even though DS likes to walk now, we still use the stroller when we do any shopping or long walking.

I also figure without the double, it will be hard for me to get out with both of them when I'm home on maternity leave (I originally was thinking to wait to get a double until later on).

We settled on the City Select. The price is kind of insane IMO, but for a Queens resident like me, the side by side doubles wouldn't work as well and I do NOT like the regular tandem strollers. The City Select is technically tandem but it's on a single stroller frame. And we can use it single or double if we happen to just have one child with us.

Oh and at BBB you can use the registry completion coupon to get 10% off any Baby Jogger strollers and accessories! They don't take any other coupons for that brand.

Re: Strollers for two.... lots of questions

my dd will be 2yrs 9months when #2 is born
I also have the Peg Perego Pliko Switch but I found the heavier dd got the hard it was to stear. I just ordered the sit and stand

dd hates going into a stroller now but I still need her to at times so I figures the sit/stand would be good for her
