Dr. Kofinas?
I was thinking of getting a second opinion with him after my HSG in March.
Does anyone have any comments/concers or reccomendations about him?
Thanks!

Re: Dr. Kofinas?
I just went for a consult. I was not that impressed,...but it was one time! He was nice and I have heard so many stories about him and his staff being so wonderful so I am going to stick it out again. I went because I had a chemical so he did bloodwork...and we went over the results and got some new meds.
I would suggest to call them now so you could get the bloodwork started. It takes 3 weeks to get the results back.
GL!

Re: Dr. Kofinas?
what bloodwork did you have done? I had already had regular bloodwork done at my regular OBGYN and the RE i saw initially suggested I have bloodwork done for genetic testing, which i had done today. DH still has to go for his SA exam and I have to do my HSG, but i can't schedule that until cycle day 1...
Is there other bloodwork i should be asking about because the other RE never mentioned anything else to me.
I was going to make an appointment with Dr. Kofinas after I had the results of both the HSG and the SA back.

Re: Dr. Kofinas?
I don't know how much input (Alex) Kofinas would have on that... His speciality is mostly thrombophelia and keeping people pregnant (he's a perinatologist).
His brother George who has an office in Brooklyn would probably be the better fit if you have questions about an HSG and SA... but maybe I'm wrong..
The Dr.Kofinas everyone talks about is Alex. .. .and while people do see him while trying (I saw him along with Dr.Braverman) he really just manages the thrombophelia end... until you are pregnant and then of course he deals with perinatal issues.

Re: Dr. Kofinas?
My co-worker swears by him. She and her husband switched to Kofinas after a misdiagnosis with another RE. They have an almost 2 year old as a result of IUI with Dr. Kofinas.
ETA: My co-worker told me that a consult with him is $500 and not covered by insurance. I don't have any real knowledge besides her report since we're using a different RE.

I have seen both Alex and George Kofinas.
George was very knowledgeable with a wonderful bedside manner. I liked him a lot. The only thing is his office is in Brooklyn and Staten Island. I went to the Brooklyn office which was a bit of a hike... but I found the appt made it worth it (I only had a consult). It's located in Methodist hospital.
He takes out of network insurance, I only paid 30 bucks for my consult through OON GHI benefits.
