Anyone ever trigger with
5,000 units of hcg instead of 10,000? I was instructed to do 5,000 units tonight but my first two IVFs (different clinic) had me do 10,000. Anyone know why they choose one over the other? TIA!!

Re: Anyone ever trigger with
i did for a timed intercourse cycle. it was because i had A LOT of follies, some mature and a bunch immature. the idea was that triggering with less HCG reduced the risk of OHSS and reduced the risk that the smaller follies would catch up and I'd end up an octomom. they told me to come back for bloodwork 5 days later to see if i needed a booster of 5000iu but i didn't need it. i didn't get pregnant that cycle (actually my beta came back at 2 twice but we were never sure if it was a lab error or a chemical since i had 2 previous chemicals) but we may have had triggered a little too early to avoid too many mature eggs. the next cycle i switched to IVF because it was very difficult to just get me to stim an egg or two and not ten so IVF was the safer option. not sure why you would use a smaller trigger for IVF unless you have so many eggs and a high e2 and are at increased risk for OHSS.

Re: Anyone ever trigger with
Hmmm, I don't have a ton of follicles right now (maybe about 8-10) but I also only have one functioning ovary. Actually I think my E2 level is kind of high right now so maybe that's why they want me to use the lower dose. I am sure they know what they are doing...
