Baby's weight at 35 weeks?
I just got back from a growth sono. I have GD so I get them about every 2 weeks. They told me LO is measuring about 2 weeks ahead and weighs around 6lb 7oz. They also said that her stomach is big but didn't elaborate so of course now I'm concerned and worried. Is this a huge weight for a baby at 35 weeks? What did your babies weigh?

Re: Baby's weight at 35 weeks?
Doesn't sound too far off. I just had my 36 weeks visit on Tuesday. The baby was measuring 6 lbs 8 ounces.
The weight is just an estimate. It's taken as an average across all the measurements they take.
I wouldn't be concerned at all.

Thank you for your response. Of course when I called my mom, the first thing she says is "wow, they're definitely going to take her early". Thanks mom.
Anyone else?

Doesn't sound that big too me. I had a growth sono at 35 weeks and the baby was 6lbs 3oz. She told me it was in the 60% for weight. Which is pretty average.

GD tends to make bigger babies. However, the measurements are an estimate- I've known people whose babies measurements were totally off when they were actually born- like 2 lbs less that they had them "measured at" 2 weeks before.

Re: Baby's weight at 35 weeks?
at 36wks+, my growth sono said baby was 5lb 7oz but i was 5' and 89lb to begin with so i think the baby grows to fit the mom. if you're tall and have a bigger frame, baby may be bigger. GD also contributes. but babies between 6-8lb is IMO very normal!

Re: Baby's weight at 35 weeks?
I had GD with my first pregnancy. At 34 weeks Emily was 6lbs 11oz on the sonos. It didn't change my doctor's plan of action at all. They still wanted me to hold out until my due date to make any kind of decision because they wanted her lungs to be fully matured. So...I was due on a Friday, and on Monday we did another sono. She measured 10lbs 7 oz on that sono. That is when the decision was made to have a c-section. 2 days later (2 days before my due date) she was born by c-section at 9lbs 10 oz. So the sono measured her bigger then she was, but she was still a big baby.
I am PG with #2 and at 32 weeks this baby measured 4lbs 10 oz. They say that they gain about 1/2 lb a week...so...I will probably have about an 8 lb baby this time, which isn't all that huge if you ask me. Tons of women have 8lb babies!
Honestly just because you are measuring large doesn't mean they will deliver the baby early. They still want the baby to develop properly and there is a lot of lung development that happens at the end. They may opt for a c-section though. I am sure it will be OK!

I had my son at 37 weeks which is considered full term. He weighed 7lbs 13oz. I don't think your LO is measuring too big at all.

Re: Baby's weight at 35 weeks?
with DS #1 my growth sono at 36 weeks was 7lbs 7oz. DS#1 was born 4 days late and weighed in at 9 lbs 12oz (had him vaginally owwwww)
I find out next week what DS#2 is weighing in at for my 36 week appt. I think he is another large one!
But DS was completely fine no worries
