Girls with GD- are you #'s always below what they should be?

I know the range should be <120 2hr after a meal but is it really bad if they are 130 or so? I havent yet met with my nutritionist (I have an appt. on Friday) but Ive been recording my numbers and most of the time Im 120 and under but occasionally Im in the 130's, is that really bad?

i was told once in awhile of going over was ok, especially if it's obvious that it was a food choice that put me over. if it's consistently the same meal (ie: 3 lunches in a row) or on the same day (bkfast, lunch, dinner), then i'm supposed to call immediately for a phone consultation.

I've had a number go over the 120 - and my doc said its fine as long as I know why, i.e., the bag of M&M's I ate after lunch Chat Icon Chat Icon

The only number my OB is really concerned with these days (I am 36 weeks) is my morning fast number. 2 days in a row it was above 90 (93 and 94) and he made me switch up my snack at night and then all was back to normal.

I think one or two numbers over is fine, like I said, if you can see why they are over (ate too much or had ice cream or something)

What is your night time snack? Just curious because my fasting numbers have been coming up 92s and 93s..... Maybe a different snack will help?

My numbers were great my whole pregnancy, I worked out every single freakin day so I could eat. Followed the diet, only gained 15 pounds the whole pregnancy and low and behold my DD was almost 9lbs! They had estimated 7! LOL!

I'd love to know too! My fasting numbers have been in the high 80's and once in awhile, it creeps to 92 or 93.

The nutritionist says I'm so borderline, they'll put me on insulin if I can't get them down any lower asap.

if you're getting readings in the 130s you probably need to adjust what you're eating. your dietician will go over that with you at your consult. also bear in mind that sometimes GD can't be controlled with diet alone.

Sometimes I dont even have a snack at night. I noticed for me its mainly when I test 2hrs after dinner that it goes high. Normally in the mornings Im under 90. If I do have a snack at night it might just be some cheese or a small bowl of cereal.

The trouble for me was I was going to be early and thus my snack was at 9 or 9:30 at night. I was waking at 6:30.... I found when I had the snack at 10-10:30 instead, my numbers were fine!

I usually have Triscuits with sliced swiss cheese or cheddar. Sometimes I'd have a slice of pepperoni too.

Another snack was 2 slices of wheat toast with a little PB on it.

I am 36 weeks and I've gained about 18 lbs total so far. I've only put on about 3-4 lbs since starting the GD diet at about 28 weeks.
