it is advised to eat meat well done as well as eggs.
I won't lie though, ive had a few bites of somebody's medium burger as well as a few bites of someone else's egg's benedict. both heavenly

i am a huge med. rare person when it comes to steaks and burgers but i have switched over to medium well; just so there is no pink in the center...

They recommend that all meat be cooked well done...
That being said I do prefer my steak to be more like medium well. And I love runny eggs.
As long as you are using fresh products from a reputable store/butcher, then I don't think there is too much of a risk involved.

Steaks are fine as long as they are seared brown on the outside. So medium/medium well/and even some rares (from reputable places) are fine. Listeria tends to affect meats on the outside. Chopped meat on the other hand should be cooked VERY thoroughly.

This! Burgers and other ground beef are obviously ground up so the inside of the burger can be potentially contaminated and should be fully cooked. Only the outside of a steak will ever touch anything thats possibly contaminated...so as long as it's fresh I'd be comfortable eating it medium. In fact, DH made me a deliciious Med Rare steak last night :)

I eat steak medium to medium well. If I have a burger, I order it medium well. I'd be more concerned about ground beef than steak.
