Those of you who live on artifical sweetners (before/during) pregnancy.
Did you stop all together since you got pregnant, cut back on it or still eat/use it like you did prior to pregnancy. Since being diagnosed with gestational diabetes I find it very difficult to just live on water and no sweets. So how bad is it to really use products that have artificial sweetners in it?

Oh i was so excited to see your name that I didnt even read your post 
I never have artificial sweeteners, even pre-pg. The one thing I did drink though was diet snapple. I cut that completely out during my pg. Only real sugar for me, even after i gave birth. I do not know anything about GD though, so I can't help ya there. Hope you feel well. You're due soon!!!!

Yeah I have gd. When I got pg I stopped all artificial sweetners and would use sugar in iced tea or drink 7up. When dxd with gd no more sodas. I try to add lemon in iced tea insstead of sugar but it sucks!!! So I do tiny bit of sugar and aside from that I drink water. I asked my doc about natural sweetners like stevia and he said no. Totally sucks sorry!

My doc says Splenda in moderation is fine. I am diabetic pre-pregnancy and always use it. I used it throughout my pregnancy with DD#1 and she is absolutely fine.

Oh, this is very good to know. Thanks! Another question: what is considered to be "in moderation"? Like, typically in a day what do you drink/eat that has spenda?

I will have a decaf coffee or two with one almost everyday. I drink Crystal Light Pink Lemonade sometimes, which is made with Splenda. That is great when bored with plain water.
An occasional sugar free cookie or something like that too is fine. Check the box for the Splenda symbol.

I had gd with this last pregnancy and my doc told me that I could have 4 servings of splenda a day.

i always had a cup or 2 of coffee per day with equal. As soon as I got pregnant I cut out coffee all together. I actually stopped drinking coffee in my 2ww but Im just a neurotic person. If I drink soda now I will have caffeine free but regular soda, not diet.

Try Stevia in the Raw - totally natural and tastes great.
I was a big Splenda/Sweet-N-Low person before my first pregnancy (and a complete Diet Coke addict). I quit cold turkey a month before we started trying, and haven't looked back since. DS was born 8 months ago, and I'm nearing 2 years without anything but the Stevia in the Raw.

I think splenda is considered the safest and probably best tasting.
I have truvia in the house but I only like that in coffee and it's considered generaly safe during pregnancy.
