Some basement re-do questions
Our basement is currently finished, although not very nicely. There are studs and cheap panneling up and gross stick-on carpet squares. We also have some exposed pipes that we would like boxed in.
It's not a huge area, maybe 10x16. The other part of our basement is a sub-basement - it was actually a coal cellar at one point, we'd like to keep that part unfinished (I think. It's 4 steps down form the regular basement and like its own separate room). We were thinking of making it an actual usable space. We'd have to do new sheetrock, a new ceiling, and new flooring.
I have NO idea how much something like this would cost, any thoughts? There's already electric, and the walls do have studs to attach the sheetrock to.
What would be a reasonable amount for this job? Like I said, I have no idea, so even a baseline would be appreciated before we start getting quotes.
Thanks!

Re: Some basement re-do questions
Our basement is about 2x the size and we paid $3,400 for sheetrocking and mudding/taping. All mildew/mold resistant sheetrock for walls, ceilings and around the support beams and poles (which were framed out by us). The basement was gutted out and walls were framed by us before they came in so if you can take down paneling and carpet you will save costs there.
We did our own recessed lights and painting. We had carpet installed (commercial berber with mold/mildew resistant pad). All that ran us about another $2k but again, 2x the size + we did the lights/painting ourselves.
HTH!
