Does anyone feel bad/ guilty for their pets?

We have a dog, Izzy, who I say is my best friend. She is pretty much my shadow when I'm home. When we get home, we have a routine where DH and I have to sit on the couch so she can give us hugs and kisses. I do get excited thinking of her playing with our lil boy and can see her having so much fun (she loves tag, fetch, hide and seek) And I can't wait to buy a big sister and lil brother shirt for the two of them. But then I think of all the attention she will not be getting anymore and it starts to make me feel bad/guilty. I don't want her to feel we love her any less. Does that make sense? And then the idea of love also makes me feel bad. I love her so much that I can't imagine loving anything/anyone more. But I know when I have the baby, it's going to be a whole different level of love, so I feel bad about not loving Izzy like that.

I may sound like a crazy person right now.. but are there any animal lovers who feel somewhat the same way?

I hear what you are saying. I couldn't wait to get home today to see my dog, Blizzard. She gets so excited when i walk in. She gives me hugs and kisses as well. She is adorable. I find myslef thinking of her during the day. She is such a good dog.

I have talked with people and researched on teh Internet how to acclimate her to the baby. They say to try to give the dog at least 10 minutes of individual attention a day. I told my husband that if one of us is with the baby the other one can play with the dog.

Many people say it all works out anyway. That the dog just somehow knows that the baby is part of the family and becomes protective of it. You'll see. You'll have enough love for both of them. Good Luck!
