BTDT- GD testing question.
I just had my glucose tolerance test done so obviously I dont have the results back but here is my question. I just got home and I tested my blood levels using DH's machine (hes diabetic) and my number was 187. This probably means I have to go for the 3hr right? This was about 1.5hrs after I drank the drink.

Not necesssarily. I say this because my friend did the same thing. She had gd with her first baby. She is now pregnant with number two, she took the test and before they drew her blood she checked her own sugars and she got around the same number you did. When she got her results SHE PASSED she didnt need to go for the 3 hour. Im sending you passing vibes

187 is high. But a lot of factors can play into that, so anything is possible. I am on my 3rd pregnancy and the first having GD. My numbers 2 hours after eating need to be in the range of 80-120.... just for a point of reference.
I forget off-hand what the # is after the 1 hour test, it's either 130 or 140. If you haven't eaten anything besides the glucose drink, your body could also be throwing you off!

I failed the 1 hour with a 158. Passing was below 140. So 187 seems kind of high to me 
I had to take the 3 hour and just found out I passed yesterday.  Even if you fail the 1 hr, chances are good you'll pass the 3

187 is high. My doctor told me that the cut-off for the 1 hour test was 140. I failed the 1 hour with my first pregnancy with a 186 and he said it was so high that he didn't even want me to take the 3-hour test. He diagnosed me right then and there with GD and sent me to a nutritionist. 
So not to freak you out or make you worry, but mentally prepare yourself for having GD.
How old are you? I do NOT have GD with this 2nd pregnancy, 6.5 years later. My doctor said that my weight loss is a big factor in that (I am still very overweight) and also the fact that I am older. There is an increased chance when you are under 25 he told me. But I passed my 3-hour test this pregnancy and still test my blood sugar daily and always get great numbers --- 70-80 when I wake up and 80-100 following meals.
Anyway, a lot of people freak out when they find out that they have GD but I've been through it and it is very controllable with diet in many cases. And just because you have it with one pregnancy doesn't mean that you will have it with all subsequent pregnacies, I am proof of that!

I failed my 1 hour with a 187 and unfortunately went on to fail the 3 hour. I hope that you pass! Let us know when you get the results.

Do you think that me testing with a meter at home will give the same results as the labs sending out my blood sample? I also just had dinner...two beef patties  and a glass of iced tea..tested myself 1.5hrs later and my number was 119 which I believe is pretty normal...so I think I should just stop and wait for my results or I'll drive myself mad

Levels for someone who has Gestational Diabetes tend to be slightly LOWER then someone who has regular Diabetes. So for example, with GD, they like your fasting blood sugar to be under 90. A lot of people I know who have diabetes like their levels under 100 or 110 for fasting blood sugar. So there are some differences there. I am not an expert but I do have some friends who have Type 2 Diabetes and we've discussed it.
Anyway, the cutoff that I was told for 2 hours following a meal was 120 or under. So at 119 you are right about at the borderline. 121 would have been over, and 2 points is a very small different. I would honestly say that there is a very good chance you have it, especially if your 1-hour was 187. That is a pretty high number.
I am not trying to discourage you but trying to be realistic. I tested my blood sugar for several weeks BEFORE even having my 1-hour test, just because I was curious about it, and I don't think it's a bad thing to test if you haven't gotten your results back. The sooner you can start noticing what some foods are that trigger higher numbers for you, the sooner you can work on minimizing your intake of those foods so that you can keep your blood sugar levels under control!

Oh...also...compairing lab results to the meter results.
When I took my 3 hour with this pregnancy I also tested with my meter at every interval. They'd draw my blood, send me back to the waiting room, and I'd use my meter to test right then and there. As far as the meter results vs. the lab results --- my meter was abuot 5-10 points higher for each of the intervals.

But I passed the 3 hr (after taking it twice).

You never know. I failed my one hour and passed my 3 hour. I was having high readings at times and low at others on the glucose monitor as well.
I passed my 1 hour my first pregnancy.
