Two Destination Maternity vents

Relatively minor in the scheme of things, but I wanted to share...

I ordered a couple of sweaters from motherhood.com, and the return policy on the receipt says that you can return to destination maternity for store credit. I went there today to return one of the sweaters, and to pick up some tights. The girl at the register said that they don't actually give store credit, just an even exchange. I showed her where it said it on the receipt, but she said that "the system" doesn't allow her to give store credit. The difference between the sweater and tights was only about $1.30, so I bought two sample size lotions for $1 each and owed them $.70. Not a big deal, but annoying, since it SAYS that store credit will be given.

My other gripe is that their sale racks are really annoying to negotiate! Nothing is separated into sizes, so you have to pick through everything. I have no patience for that, so I didn't bother.

My third annoyance (I know, I said there were only two) is that the salesgirl today showed no interest in me once she heard that I was more interested in the Motherhood Maternity stuff than Pea in The Pod. I refuse to spend the money for the ridiculously expensive stuff. Last time, my salesgirl was great, so I'll just chalk this one up to bad luck.

Re: Two Destination Maternity vents

Which one did you go to? The one in Huntington Station (across from the Walt Whitman mall) is fabulous. Although, I will say that they did push the Pea in the Pod stuff and when I was looking for jeans, they were totally pushing the $200 ones, I told them I didn't want to spend so much so they showed me the $100 jeans. Well, a little while later my mom found awesome $40 jeans in the Motherhood section! Umm, why didn't they show me those? They also told me the leggings I was buying were $40 when I actually paid $75. I returned them today.

ITA about the Huntington store. I have had such great experiences there. There is a sales lady with an accent (I forgot her name) who is AMAZING she doesn't push the Pea in the Pods stuff at all.

Sorry you had such a bad experience today Chat Icon That is pretty c r a p p y about the store credit!

I was at the one in Carle Place. I'm not near Walt Whitman too often, but maybe it's worth a trip one weekend!

Ugh I had some snooty salesgirl do the same thing to me once! I hate when they do that! Sorry I'm not buying J Brand maternity jeans that I will only wear for a few months!

Re: Two Destination Maternity vents

The one in Lake Grove outside of Smithaven Mall is AWFUL. I hate going in there when one certain person is on because she is unbelievably pushy (and I used to be a retail manager so I have seen some pushy sales people).

I also asked my number be taken off their call list twice and it is still on there. When I asked the second time they said they probably didn't take it off incase I have another baby. Chat Icon

Not a fan either. Glad to know about the return policy since I have to return some things there. Im sure they will give me a hard time. I use to go across the street to Macys at Roosevelt Field Mall where they have a maternity section.

The one by me is horrible as well. I like to browse on my own and there is this salesgirl who follows you around and almost barged into the fitting room with me one time. I've been going to Macys or ordering from Old Navy online to avoid her this pregnancy.

ugh love the clothes but DH literally walked out because it was so overwhelming. He didn't even flinch as we registered at BRU and that was 20 times the store. They need to back off.

I'm trying to get off their email list! I've unsubscribed a hundred times and I still can't get off the damn thing. I even wrote a letter to customer service. No responseChat Icon Chat Icon

Oh and I agree, they PUSH Pea in a Pod like crazy at that store. I went in there for a shower dress and the lady was showing me $300 Pea in a Pod dresses and I had to leave. I went back another day, snuck to the Motherhood section and bought a dress for $30Chat Icon

i had similar experiences with returns there - they seemed to tell me different things each time i was in there, so i think it was probably the sales girl you dad. They definitely can, and will give you store credit, it does not have to be an even exchange.

Also, the first time i went in there i had such a great experience with a sales woman who actually steered me away from the Pea in the Pod stuff saying it was too expensive for what it is and showed me some great stuff in the Motherhood Maternity section. (the difference in price is definitely evident in the quality of clothing though).

I usually found most of the sales people in there (the Carle Place store) to be really really helpful and i felt super pampered every time i shopped there!

As a side note.. try Macy's in RF as well, they have both lines of clothing there. But remember, you only have 30 days to return anything maternity you buy there so don't buy something thinking you may use it later because by the time you decide if you're going to keep it or not, you won't be able to return it! And you can't use Macy's coupons for any maternity stuff

The Macy's in the city only carries Pea in a Pod in case you're thinking of going there

sorry.. total off topic rambling Chat Icon
