Insurance Question...
I have a new job and trying to decide if this is a better plan than my hubby's. A friend of mine at the office said there is only diagnostic coverage for IF however here is what it reads: "Benefits are provided for certain services related to the diagnosis, treatment and correction of any underlying cause of IF." And a little side note stating exclusions "Artifical Insemmination and IVF." So my question is…would a medicated cycle be covered. This is so gray to me.

Re: Insurance Question...
I would check with the insurance company and confirm that IF treatment is covered....it sounds like the exclusions dont really cover IF treatment but I would ask

Re: Insurance Question...
Meds might be in the treat and correct category.

Re: Insurance Question...
Sounds like cycles would not be covered but if you needed surgery to correct an infertility issue that would be covered.
Meds are sometimes covered in a different section so you could have some meds covered but not the actual IUI or IVF.

Re: Insurance Question...
It sounds like they would cover medications and bloodwork but NOT IUI or IVF

Re: Insurance Question...
This sounds like my husband's prior insurance, they only paid for the blood and sono's but the IUI, or anything else related to IVF and meds were all out of pocket because I was never 'diagnosed' with anything other than unexplained fertility.
Hope that helps, I know its very frustrating and make IF even harder when you dont have the cash reserve to cover everything.....

Re: Insurance Question...
sounds like my old insurance which didnt cover anything that was filed under INFERTILITY but did cover stuff filed under PCOS. therefor it only covered certain meds, injectables like follistim were not covered, but things like provera and sonos were covered.
