Babies & Veggies
I was just wondering if you mommas thought I was ruining this kid because he is not so keen on veggies...so I am sticking with the fruit.
So, am I making a rod for my own back by not forcing the veggies on the bambino??? He isn't actually so keen on the whole eating thing...but I think he will grow into it.
So, spare the veggies spoil the child??

I don't know, I don't really give her anything she doesn;t like either.
She does like the following veggies: squash sweet potatoes carrots
We send the green crap to daycare and make them give it to her.

Re: Babies & Veggies
I've yet to delve into veggie land with jacob.. but from the looks of it, it's not going to be easy. He doesnt even seem to enjoy fruits. Well the only fruits i can give him are pears and peaches. Apples and Bananas are too gassy for him. Next week starts carrots..

Re: Babies & Veggies
I was just told by my ped to be sure he eats the greens too since they are healthy and more likely he will eat them later on then
of course my DS loves carrots, squash and sweet potatoes much better, but I think thats normal..
I still try green beans and peas a few times a week..

Re: Babies & Veggies
Give him a break from it and reintroduce in a week or 2. I noticed Joseph's tastebuds changed alot. Now he PREFERS veggies over fruits! He would eat 2 or 3 jars of the butternut squash alone if I let him!

Nope - not spoiling him. I would keep trying so he gets used to the taste. I would also mix a vegetable with a fruit. Or a few spoons of veggies in between spoons of fruit. Yes it confuses the heck out of them, but hey, it's vitamins. You can make him eat veggies when he's older.
BTW, Broccoli looks like trees & as you know giraffes eat leaves from trees, and if you want to be a true giraffe, well....

Re: Babies & Veggies
You can't force a baby to eat. Give him what he likes, and every few weeks try veggies again... maybe his preference will change.

Don't force - wait and try again. Kevin hated baby food green beans so I never gave them to him and right now he is on table food and one of his favorite foods is green beans - he can eat a large can in a day if I let him!!!!

Re: Babies & Veggies
they say you should try several times if a baby seems to not like it. It can take over ten tries before they know if they actually do or don't like it.
I'm the spoiled one....she eats ANYTHING

Right, I will try that theory on my FIVE AND A HALF MONTH OLD BABY.
Nice try.

Re: Babies & Veggies
What I did with my DD was I would put some veggies on the spoon then I would put the fruit on top and she would eat most of the veggies that way

Re: Babies & Veggies
Melanie has not been eating her veggies lately, so I've been "hiding" them from her in foods. I made pumkin muffins the other day, or I put pureed veggies in tomato sauce over pasta.
