For those of u who found out gender before 20 weeks....

What number week did u find out? I found a place in the city that says they will take u at 15 weeks (if they can't tell they have u come back for no charge).

I just called a place in E meadow & they do it anytime after 12 weeks but recommend 18 weeks or more so that kind of discouraged me.

I actually made an appt (which I can cancel) at the place in the city for nov 2 when I'll be exactly 15 weeks bc that's our anniversary & I figured that'd be fun. But obv east meadow is closer to home so I'd rather go there......

I guess my question after all this rambling was do I have a shot of finding out the gender at 15 weeks on the dot? Or is it more likely that they won't be able to tell. The city thing sounded cooler (u get more stuff - like a dvd & stuff) but it's obv less convenient, ESP if I have to go back.

Any input?????

Ours was at 18wks, and I was still unsure. I mean it looked like a boy, but by my 20wk check it was more a boy and every 2wks since they have verified lol. As the weeks went on it was much more obvious it's a boy.

Honestly at 18wks I wasn't 100% convinced, but they were. I wouldn't find out any sooner then 18wks.

The one in east meadow was a no frills type of deal, it did exactly what we needed it to- confirmed the gender. They did have a really big tv screen to see the baby, that was cool. As for actually finding out, I think it all depends on whether or not the baby will show their goods

With DC1 we found out at the 16 weeks appt (it was a follow up to the 12 wk NT Scan) The radiologist said they could tell us at 12 wks but we were still at that point.

I found out at 12 weeks, but that's because I had the CVS done. As far as ultra sounds, I had an early anatomy scan at 16 weeks and it was pretty much very easy to see. As long as the equipment is high tech and the baby cooperates, you should be able to tell by at least 16 weeks. At my 12 week scan, they wouldn't venture a guess since it wasn't too clear.

I found out the wrong gender at 17 wks. And then got the results of my amnio and had the correct results.

I would wait as long as possible.

Wait till the 20 weeks. It's not as accurate before then. It's only a month later.

ETA: The 20 week appointment is important for so much more than finding out the sex of the baby. They check all of the baby's measurements, organs, you name it. I would not go to a place to find out the sex before all of that was done.

I found out at 16 weeks with both pregnancies the sex of the baby. Confirmed both times at my level 2.

my drs office said they could guess at around 15w, but its not always accurate. decided why bother finding out if its not accurate? so we waited until 19 weeks to find out at my level 2

I had a very confident guess at my 12 week sono.

I later had it confirmed at my CVS and then again at my 20 week.

The sono tech gave me a guess at my level 1 (12 wks). She said "don't go out shopping- but I'm gonna say it's a girl."

My OB confirmed it at 16wks

I found out officially at 16 weeks with DD and 15 weeks with DS. However, being the 12 week sono nub expert I am, I already knew from 12 weeks.

My sono tech took a guess at 12 weeks. She said she's 99% sure it was a boy and she was right.

Ours took a guess at 13 weeks, 6 days.

Our last sono was at 17 weeks and confirmed that.

We have another one this week (18 weeks, 6 days) so I can tell you if it's the same, but I'm sure it will be since at the 17 week it was very obvious!

i think more than anything you should ask for their "track record" the sono place i'm going to when i hit 15 weeks told me they've been 100% right in i can't remember how many years she said she's been doing this. the experience of the technician i think is the key here...and of course if the baby cooperates!

I got a guess at 13 weeks that it was a girl and then another tech told us the same during the Level 2/Anatomy Scan so I'm pretty sure it's a girl but for some strange reason I'm nervous about it. I have the kind of luck where I'd bring a boy home to a pink nursery

I wanted to find out earlier too but the longer you wait the more accurate they can be. So I'd just hold out, I wouldn't go somewhere just to find out the sex but that's just me. I was lucky enough to get an early guess but I didn't put much stock in it.
