Plus Size Ladies...

What are you wearing for fall, where are you shopping? I've scoured all the websites and not finding much I love.Chat Icon All these funky patterns and asymmetrical hemlines. Just not my style nor do I think they'd be flattering. I feel so frumpy lately and I'm trying to snap out of that and feel like I have some nice non frumpy mom outfits but again, not feeling like I love much that's out there.

Re: Plus Size Ladies...

I do alot of my shopping at Avenue, or Dressbarn, both stores have really nice clothes, and pricing very reasonable...

Re: Plus Size Ladies...

I'm over Lane Bryant. I find their clothes to be overpriced, and either too old looking, or geared towards the smaller of the sizes they carry (i.e. 14/16). I paid off my LB credit card several months ago (and at one point I did owe nearly $1000) and I don't plan on using it again.

I haven't really been shopping too much Chat Icon since we're about to close on our first house but I've been finding some cute, youngish looking tops at Marshalls. I mostly buy from Old Navy, occasionally Avenue (although they have a lot of old looking clothes too but at least they are less $$$), and sometimes Torrid but they are $$$ too.

Why are so many PS tops so damn long? I may be wide but I'm short too. If I wanted a dress, I'd buy a dress!!

I'm the opposite, I find many too short. I need to cover the fat, not let it all hang out Chat Icon

I ordered from ON, Lane Bryant, Avenue and JC Penney. Hopefully I can pull some things together from these things and return the rest.

I have almost no torso. My boobs aren't too far from my belly button. Chat Icon And my legs are super short too. So many PS shirts are nearly to my knees b/c of this. Totally not flattering at all! I'm all kinds of awkward Chat Icon

I will always love LB but I agree I will not buy anything without a coupon and their stuff is way overpriced !! I love a lot of tops from Dress Barn but they are pretty pricey too. I get a lot of tops from there but I happen to notice that they shrink sooo badly after I wash them ( and I hang dry them). So that really blows !

Avenue is so so and Kohls is usually a hit or miss. Torrid to me is almost a junior plus size, but they have cute stuff.

Re: Plus Size Ladies...

What store is PS? I shop in Macys and Lord and Taylor. I also like Lands End and Coldwater Creek.

The brands I prefer are:
Jones NY
Lauren/Ralph Lauren
Calvin Klein
Tommy Hillfiger (but sadly he has gotten out of plus and petite sizes)
Inc. is hit or miss - I feel like the quality is not that great but it looks nice the first time I wear it.
American Rag
Nine West

My friends and I just discovered this store, which we love. VERY trendy, not too expensive and always having sales/sending coupons if you sign up. I know there is on in Green Acres Mall, not sure of any others in NY.

Some of the stuff is too trendy for work, but I find we can mix & match a lot of it...

Re: Plus Size Ladies...

I've been buying a bunch of the those open but really long and drapey sweaters. I ended up liking the Jennifer Lopez one from Kohl's the best. I bought 3 of them in different colors. I ordered one from Roamann's (a plus size catalog) as well but didn't like the quality at all. I bought some jeggings to go with those and that's pretty much my fall wardrobe though I kind of had to do something like that b/c I'm nursing and have to still have easy access Chat Icon

Re: Plus Size Ladies...

Does anyone know where I can get a nice plus size dress?

Ive been to Dress Barn and Macys. How is Estelles? I havent been there in years and its not close to me so I would hate to waste a trip out there.

Are there are specialty stores for plus sized dresses that you know of? TIA !!

I'm in LOVE with Fashion Bug, I went last week and picked up a TON of tops and an adorable dress for under $250.

I'm always shopping their clearance rack and I always have some kind of coupon so I can't beat the deal.

I fill the rest of my wardrobe in from Old Navy. I like that they have a "tall" section for shirts but the shirts are usually see through and don't wash well.

TJ Maxx

Marshalls

I'll stop in Avenue, Dress Barn
and Lane Bryant but I usually find their clothes way over priced, have an "older" feel and the shirts are way too short.

Kohls is VERY hit or miss. I did pick up an ADORABLE Dana Buckman Dress External Image except mine has a fatter belt. I also got some great skirts on clearance and this adorable tank
Tank which I wear with a black cardigan to work.

Ugh. I can't find anything!!!

I have some tops from Kiyonna.com that I really like but they are $$ and they all start looking the same after awhile. I need to go to Macy's but I haven't had the time.

I need to check out that website.
I have some stuff in my cart at macys.
I shop online, try on at home then return in store. I have no time to go and really shop.

Re: Plus Size Ladies...

In any given season I own like, the entire dress barn collection. I love DB!!!!

There's a great plus only store in the New Hyde Park area that has a fantastic selection.

I also really do like Macy's, especially Roosevelt Field. I don't set foot in Avenue...I feel like the clothes are like "hello, I'm a fat person" and don't look like normal clothes and they're just not shaped right for my body.

I would occasionally go to Lane Bryant, they're hit or miss. I feel like their clothes are def trendier than Avenue and some other stores but they only last one season.

In many clothes I'm out of plus sizes now, or in between, but I still do buy all of my jeans at Lane Bryant.

Forgot about them, just put some things in my shopping cart.
How do their sizes run? Large, small, true to size?
