anyone able to share their experience if you had an amnio after or in your 20th week?
i know i am worrying myself to death but i think it'd really help to hear your experience if you could share either here or via fm. i'm really worried because my ob was saying normally amnio is done betw 15-18 wks and that i am considered "late" even though the level 2 sono was just done today after 20 wks  also did your ob numb the site before inserting the needle? thank you ladies soooo much in advance!!!

Mine was done at 22wks because they were concerned about what they saw in the Level II results at week 21. Feel free to FM me with any questions..yes they numb the needle site.

I think I had mine at week 22 or 23 and it was b/c of something they saw during my 20 week US (which I had done at 21 weeks). They did not numb the needle site for me, but it wasn't a big deal, really. I did have some "twitching" or muscle spasms afterwards and got scared that it was going to trigger premature labor (that's the concern with doing the amnio later). My doc told me to ice the needle site, which helped tremendously. Also, LISTEN to the docs and take it easy for a day afterwards. The needle site did continue to hurt occassionally (annoying, not ridiculous) for a few weeks afterwards.
I ended up having my amnio unexpectedly and it was traumatic (everything's fine now) and I was by myself/had to drive myself the hour home. It was over a month ago now and everything is fine. Try to have someone go with you. Feel free to FM me if you have any questions or concerns.

I had slight discharge after it. I was worried but my doctor said it was normal.
